I had my 1.6 leon lowered yday and the back has sat lovely and low but the front doesnt look as if its changed iv only done 40mm spring.

Does any1 know if it will drop or any1 had the same problem?

The kit was listed for the mk1 leon 1.6 16v so it is the right kit for the car.

The garage that done it for me said that it will drop after about 100 miles, the back has dropped straight away but the front is no difference

any ideas

if it dont settle they may have fitted the springs wrong way round. i use to work for a suspension company and the amount of times they were fitted upside down.

They may have been listed for a 1.6 but might actually be the springs for a deisel:think:
The deisel springs are much harder/stronger and the petrol engine doesn't weigh as much as the deisel does so that might be your problem:( best thing is to double check with who you got them off. hope this helps some

ive fitted springs upside down before and made no difference to ride hight,

it can, but it does vary as sometimes the springs cant compress the way it should, it depends on how the springs are made. most springs are tough at the top n bottom n soft in the middle. but it depends if there progressively wound.

lol. :cartman:

Ashley can you see any writing on the spring at all?
it varys again on how the springs made as most of the time the coils are close at each end and space out in the centre.

i would give a a few days to see if it goes down or not.
if not give um hell!

I took it to gwent vw in newport which is my local vw specialist,

there is the part no. and on the coil it says front but there upside down which looks correct to me because the coil get very small at the top to fit onto the rubber, if it was the other way around the coil would be alot wide than the rubber and not fit properly.

No offence but i cant see in any way how being 'upside down' could cause them to compress a different amount. The same weight is on them either way round. 'soft' end at the top or bottom it will still compress only difference would be the coils are compressed at a different end.
