todd, feel for you pal - its sooooo frustrating trying figure it out - one of the old hosing around the top of the engine (cant remember the name of the valve it goes to) crumbled as i took it off the nipple - keep us updated when u figure it out

I took it to a mate who owns a garage and has a lot of experience with Renault turbos. Now I know the VAG engine is a lot more sophisticated than them but he was saying that in order to increase boost you'd surely need to adjust the actuator and then setup the fuelling to suit on the ecu but I was trying to explain in lamens terms that you don't need to touch the actuator on our cars - that is right isn't it? I know you have the N75 valve which is the boost solenoid but what is it that controls the actuator to tell the turbo to give more pressure exactly? He saw the amount of intercooler piping and was surprised it wasn't a lot more laggy but hey, I've ordered a silcone elbow to replace the OE rubber hose down in the wing as it's pinched up a bit and am taking it back to him to fit it on the ramp and look for any possible boost leaks on the pipework.
I think I'll be taking VAG-COM with me, maybe he will learn something new :)

dont let him touch your actuator

problem with people who have worked with old turbo motors like RST's and R5s is they think its so easy to just wind it down...but that shows they are no better than some people off here when looking at these type of engines

I'd be a bit worried about him working on my engine if he didnt have enough knowledge to know not to touch the actuator arm on a VAG 1.8T

Right OK, I finally took the car to the garage and they replaced the OE rubber intercooler hose down in the wing (which was getting squashed up) with the 90 deg silicone hose I got. Now there are no kinks in the intercooler pipework. They checked for any possible leakages and there are NONE.
My turbo is fine, pipework is all good, intercooler is good, vacuum lines are good.
That just leaves two, well three possibilities...

1. The spring in my actuator is too weak as they said they could physically pull it open and maybe it wasn't strong enough to hold over 10psi.

2. The N75 valve isn't doing what it supposed to which either means A) it's not working properly or B) it hasn't been mapped appropriately.

I'm guessing if the turbo is working as it should be the N75 isn't doing it's job then it could be running rich which is what Dan's is doing and from what I gather 10psi = approx 180bhp and 195lb/ft of torque which is what his rolling roaded at. ANyone recommend where I can go from here? Thanks!

its very possible the actuator spring is duff, but i dont know whether you should be able to open the wg by hand or not?

are P-torque just a mapper then? wont they have a look themselves if they mapped it and thats when problems started?

i recommend JABBA SPORT for a proper remap

if i had know about the ottinger chip before, i would considered twice buying the car - but she looks pretty sitting nice and low on 17, the tints and smoked rear lights won me over - lol

Of course we'll look at it.

All P-Torque maps are well proven. We've had plenty of great feedback on here, but unfortunately only problems seem to get highlighted.

Another member (John) had the same re-map for his Ibiza, and called me last week to tell me that it acheived 204bhp, and his mates with jabba on the same rollers, same day acheived 201bhp.

It sounds like a faulty N75 to me, but am more than happy to look at the car.

Merry Xmas by the way :)
