its now banging, the exhaust place said it was and they temporarily tied it up for me, but as its just a tie wrap its now broken! leaving me with an extremely rattly exhaust. ive also got to use the car to go on holiday in on monday.

how have people sorted out their ratlling millteks? the tie wrap worked but a plastic tie wrap wont hold for very long!

thanks as always

yeah i knew that they knocked on the rear beam when lowered, its weird its stopped doing it now. but as i say we will take a look tomorrow.

is it just a case of adjusting the bracket? (ive never done an exhaust before) or osmeone mentioned a rubber something or other

My blueflame has been rattling for about a year now. Going to get off my lazy arse and do something about it tommorrow though.

I have bought some manifold/exhaust wrap and some stainless steel cable ties. Going to wrap the rear beam and anywhere else that rattles.

My heatshield is also rattling like buggery. Melting my gear linkages.

You could try replacing your last exhaust hanger with a powerflex job (EXH005). The standard hanger gets a bit saggy and some people have found a nice new hanger holds the exhaust tightly and stops the rattling. Didn't work for me though.

Hope that helps a bit.

rear beam is the useual place for it to nonk...

the "rubber" your on about would be an uprated polly exhaust mount

thanks for that mate :) before i go over there im gonna see a mate whos quite good with cars, so we will take a look at it first as the garage is a bit of a drive! plus its probably easier to get it how i want it myself to save explaining it.

ill print this out and take it with me for some idea!

i did have a pack of metal ties that we use for fire alarm cables but gave em back to the office yesterday lol!

thanks to everyone for your help :)

i lowered my car on h&r and it is very low and my exhaust standard one was restin on the rear beam so i jacked it up and the rubber by the rear beam i put two cable ties on it one on the in side on the bar on the box and went over the metal bit above the rubber and tied it tight. and done the same with the bar but after the rubber and over the metal again and not nocked since and has not snaped yet .. try that im sure it will work it has for me..

thanks guys, im going to give it a go armed with some cable ties, and other crap i can find! even if its just to get me through the holiday then ill sort it out when im back!

my mates darn good with motors so im sure we can knock something up. also last night when i drove it it didnt rattle at all until i got onto my drive when it rattled on idle. weird.

on the plus side, i love the noise when it reaches about 3.5k :D makes it worth it

This is the point where i should say search :p as i`ve explained this so many times but ill just give a short version. :p

Basicly undo all your clamps and slide the centre section and the backbox towards the front of the car until all your exhaust hangers are pointing forwards, by doing this you gain approx 1 to 2inches over the rear beam which in turn stops it from knocking on the rear beam.

Mines lowerd my approx 60mm and i only get a small know when i have passengers.

Like yourself i took it to an exhaust place TWICE and they didnt have a clue on how to sort it so ended up doing it myself in the end and havent had a problem since.

thanks benny :p

for what its worth i do generally search, hence me reviving a thread form 2004 a while back. i did search this but all it came back with was and i quote " does the milltek exhaust pop and bang" over and over again.

so i thought id have a quick ask about :D

oh and mines about 60mm too! so hopefully itll be the same

You dont have to explain your self to me:p:lol:

Forgot to mention, when finished your tail pipes should end up pretty much flush with the cut out for the exhaust.
