my mate 1.4 started to misfire few hours ago. Vag.com showed cylinder 1 and 3.
abit confused as my 1.8T has coil packs, done search but nothing coming up related to 1.4. Is this a coil pack related or something else.
Any suggestions guys?

whip the air box / engine cover off & get a pic

I can't remember if it's coils/edis/distributor on the 1.4

Well cant get the cover off, dont know how. lol.

On the right hand side, look like a metal dsitrucbutor cap, with 4 lead, which go over engine cover and then down the front of the engine to 4metal connectors like glow plugs.

its not that much - friend had issues with his polo (1.4) and leads are fairly cheap - dealer sells them as individual whereas euro only do the set of 4 -

i doubt the total bill will be that costly -

i'd take a trip to ECP/GSF locally & pick the lot up.

They'll have the listing for all the bits

Just been going through gsf parts website, but dont know what grade oil to get, is it fully synetic or part syntic and what grade/watt to get:confused:.

i use 10/40w in my mk4 polo (same engine) fully synthetic probably your best bet but gsf wiil be able to advise.

Its only a 1.4 so dont need to get fully synthetic and i doubt it would even be recommended

why's that? synthetics are a much better oil (normally) - my cars have always run on fully synth, and ran smoother for it.

it has leads but is connected to coilpack, one side of the pack is failing as 1 and 3 have been detected as 2 and 4 are on the other circuit

What coil packs? couldnt see any  Removed the other side HT lead to reveal the spark plug.
