I wonder how much it has been revised over the original (Fabia) one and the next (Polo) one, as said not as good as they used to be - but they are still useful for moral support and torque etc. By the way, the circuit diagrams for the Polo misses out the optional extras like auto dipping mirror, which was a nuisance when I was trying to find out the wiring differance between the earlier Passat mirror with no switch and the later ones like Polo 9N which has a switch.

MY £5 Elsawin cd tells me how to remove all parts of the car, granted prob not as good as this but alot cheaper!

Yes, but you need a degree in VAG to navigate that one and then there are the endless jumps to other sections/steps. Haynes mainly covers what most people need using tools that they should already have to hand.

I still haven't got my head round ElsaWin...its a complicated interface and I need my laptop. Having a Haynes book still appeals to me especially when I'm grubbing about doing jobs on my car and getting my hands dirty :)

I think having both is the way forward, then if in doubt, or stuck using Haynes - attack the ElsaWin and scribble a few things down - then escape back to Haynes.

I think you're right. Both is the way to go for me...although TBH ElsaWin would be my reference point being it's VWAG rather than, with respect, Haynes people regarding the Haynes guide.

Just thought I would bring this back up as they are now on sale. I have found one on a certain auction site (buy it now) for £14 new. Not the £20 that the "lovely" people on the Haynes webite want!

I always get the Haynes manual, even if it is only used once in anger, (I am incredibly interesting and often just read the Haynes books just for fun!)

£13.95 seems much more reasonable,i use Elsawin myself but its far from ideal but was cheap and much better than nothing.
Haynes is aimed much more for the diy mechanic as Elsawin presumes you have lots of basic technical knowledge to start with.

I'm going to order the Haynes guide. I've got Elsawin but want something I can have in the car that a) doesn't need a charged battery b) assumes no knowledge in the user c) I can handle with oily fingers :):):)

Haynes Manual

My Haynes Manual finally came today... 7 years later...
