ive found a mk2 pic that looks exactly like what i want mine to look like it has the smoothed side mouldings g60 arches the EXACT wheels im after bumpers ect ect and NEARLY the same colour too anyways here it is this is the target!

a very kind friend lent me his compressor yesterday so managed to get a bit more work done

ive smoothed the aerial off as wont be wanting a radio and smoothed all the moulding holes off on the doors 1/4 pannels done more on the dents ect

now need to modify the arches for the 9j borbet wheels squeezing in there and cut rust out of 1/4 panel and weld new metal in and repair the break in damage on the n/s door and thats about it anyway pics speak more than words so here are a few more pics

all windows ect out/off

Hey found this thread just there and have read through it WOW, I cant believe how quick it is coming along and how much work you are carrying out yourself, certainly saves money!!
Ive had a few mk2's and love them! I changed it for a mk1 but am seriously considering going back!
What did you use to de-rust your front panel and radiator cowling??

THAT IS A LOVELY MK2 via the mirrors obviously!!!!

the front pannel and fan cowling and subframe where rubbed down and resprayed in just a gloss black spray paint any gloss black will do it was so rusty it made a huge diffrence!

yepmaking steady process on the car would liked to have had more work done by now but lack of space in garage, money and weather have held me back majorly! the welder has run out of juice so will have to get new bottle but I HOPE! will have the rear pannel arches and breakin damage on door repaired by wednesday next week as i need to return the compressoron wednesday night then soon after will be rubbing down whole car ready for full primer

then in november will have the paint job DONE watch this space

I had soo many plans for it but at the time was trying to build my mk1 and was a student so the mk2 had to go! Hopefully sometime soon i will have another!Its great to watch yours progressing the way it is!!
I really need to learn how to weld, it seems to come in handy!

cut rust out of rear pannel sealed all welding and done some more filler work (there is alot lol)

what did you seal the welds with. i looking to fit a sprinter vent in my wing.

well ive welded alot of holes up and on the inside of the pannel it leaves a blob of weld so ive ginded it down flatish and cleaned it primered it and then put some "bond seal" smeared over the top then when dry will be wax oiled all over this just stops water getting in the weld and bare metal and rusting it through! it will also be sound padded to buggery as well so even more protection!

bond seal is that a brand where would i get that. or something similar

its just the name of the stuff not a make itslike sealant just makes it waterproof any sea;ant will do you wont see it in the pannels and covered up


you will need waxoil definatly with the slotted vents!

not cummin round tonight mate will be doing it tomorrow! only just got in fromworking on her i left the house at 6am too

me and my mate have sorted a few more dents and repairs out and rubbed down the whole car ready for spray

still need to

repair stonechips, scratches, fill up pin holes, weld the rear pannel up, cut the arches out for the 9's then seal it all up then scotch all the little bits up and it will be ready for primer! then soon to follow the RESPRAY!

i will update pics after the weekend as im away all weekend at jbs with the beezer
