Is there anyone whom can give me a step by step guide to changing the rear shocks on a gti.
Unfortunately they need changing and I am still out of work so cannot afford the garage bill I have spring compressors do you need to remove the brake calipers to do the job?
Thats the bit that puts me off as I would never touch my brakes :-o

hi mate. is really quite a simple job to do. jack the car up and take the wheel off the side your working. undo the top nut and remove the strut top. then undo the 2 bolts attaching the shock to the rear hub. if putting an aftermarket suspension kit on, make sure you re-use the bit of rubber that goes just underneath the top of the strut tower. if in doubt theres probably a guide already on here. will try find a link for you

putting them on is a bit tricky, need to push the springs down as u put the nut on. what ever you do, dont put it between ur legs when trying to put the spring on. it may slip...... :scary:
