Only had the car about 4 months but one of the things I wanted to do is upgrade the head unit and door speakers, and add my 2 undersea kenwood subs.

Well, after receiving the keys to remove the oem unit, it looks like I can do 2 out 3 of these.

I popped the head unit out and to my surprise there is no room to add an aftermarket unit.... A careful and deliberate design by Seat no doubt......

It does seem that one could fit a single din unit in the top half of the dash, but I don't want to....

There isn't even any RCA outputs for subs either.....

So next is to see whats behind the unit in the glove box.... And if there are no outputs there, my subs will have to be connected to the speaker wires...

Considering the factory infotainment system is integrated into the car's other systems, removing it doesn't seem a great idea.

Plus one, this is what i have found, Lots of great head units but very little connectivity with Seat in car systems. The only unit I can find that still keeps the car menu's abd functions in tack is the http://www.config.alpine.co.uk/!/seat/leon--3 but its not a cheap replacement. Also it says it does not work with SEAT SOUND and Traffic Recognition both of which I have so still working out what this means and hoping for January Sales.

I understand and agree now... I'm just hoping there's a set of working RCA outputs on the rear of the stereo unit in the glove box.. Working as in working without having to do a system/firmware update to get them working... If not I'll just have to tap into the door speaker wires to hook up my subs... Last resort..

Don’t want to burst your bubble but there are two outputs for a sub but you will need to remove component protection to use them.
This is the rear of the glovebox unit

Bubble burst....... Lol

Thanks for the pin lay out though. I guess I'll be using the speaker output wires for my subs... Or use a high level to low level adaptor box.

Thanks again for the info...

The advantage of attatching to the OEM output would be the ability to adjust the levels from the head unit. Good luck
Thanks....

I agree, but I'm lucky in that my kenwood underseat subs have a cabled remote control. I usually place this in the centre consol so I can adjust the subs as and when I need..

Thanks again for the pin identification... I managed to install one on my underseat subs during the week and all working great.. No issues, Inc unwanted noise, coming from sub...

What I will say now is I did have to hunt for the front door speaker wires to tap into for my speaker (high) level input...

This pic shows the 8 speaker pins....

Which is good but the middle 4 pins showing the front speakers are for the pillar tweeters...

The pins for the door speakers are these:

I found them using my phone with a cable out of headphone jack and just prodded and poked until sound came out of door speakers....

Now I've done one, I will do the other for, passenger seat, when I get time... And i will post up some install pics too...

Hey lewis, never installed SEAT Sound, I needed the diagrams as I was going to do away with the MDI interface to fit a USB Socket and aux instead. However I couldn't get this to work, so I reverted back. sorry cant be of much more help.
