Start saving for the cam belt to be done - it's 60K or 4 years - whichever comes first.
I am addicted to MK5 Ford Fiestas had 2 of them since 2000 up to a few months ago when i got the seat.
Didnt want to sell it but need a good TDI and unless i was spending 8K i would not be getting a good ford derv.
So my mate was sell this one for a good price so hard th say mo. love the power of the TDI and that it gives good MPG. but other then room cant find anything that the Ibiza beats the fiesta on. and will be buying another fiesta as soon as i have some spare crash. also did i say i am the Reg rep for a Fiesta club lol

Could be worse bud, at least most of the parts are german made. If they weren't I think we'd all be in trouble

20 years ago i would agree, but seeing as most German manufactures are now at the bottom of reliability studies... advertising is a powerful thing.
If only everything in life was reliable as a Golf
I think it could be worse... after all, the cars could be British with MG/Rover and British Leyland type issues! 
There's not enough background info on these Which/WhatCar verdicts IMO. For instance, a car that covers 100k over 3 years is quite likely to have more issues than a car that covers 50k over 3 years. A lot of the cars that come top of these reliability index things seem to me to be not the type of car to have a high annual mileage (Hyundai for instance), so they are bound to have less issues than something German (VAG, BMW or Merc) which commonly have high annual mileages.
I hope that makes some sort of sense.
Yeah, all the Which and WhatCar studies say German manufacturers are the least reliable, but to be honest me (well I've only be driving since May!) and my family have found quite the opposite! 3 VAG vehicles in my household and touch wood they are the most reliable cars my family has seen!

VW group had a fantastic car in the Mk2 Golf Gti
18 years on, the similarly sized Polo/Ibiza/Fabia chassis design is both more unconfortable and less poised in handling - some lessons could be relearned here!
Combined with excessive scrimping on electrics to save cost & weight, minimal core wiring pulled excessively tight throughout the car with resulting irritating electrical faults, it's made me suspicious of what other modern VAG group cars will be like.
PD engines are great just as the fuel injected petrol ones were back in the seventies/eighties. Had the selectors snap in my early six speed gearbox though just to discover that later cars have strengthened selectors......no recall on the early cars though, just expensive repair bills for those of us unlucky enough to have bought one...
After twenty years of VW/Audi roads cars, I'm quite disappointed
Not sure what else to buy instead though? Fords seem to have had DMFs fall out at ridiclously low mileages too.
Fotunately I still own a Mk1 Gti Cabriolet and a Mk2 Gti Kjet. Strong possibilty the Mk2 will come back into daily use. Just wish I had one with aircon and power steering, then I don't think my '02 Ibiza would get a look in against my '86 Gti....how crazy is that?
