Hi everyone
I'm looking to get a new car pretty soonish. I'm only 21 but I've had 5 cars since I started driving and they've all been petrol - and have generally returned around 25-38 mpg. However, I'm starting a new job which will require me to commute around 80 miles a day (most of it on the A19) so I need something economical(ish) but more importantly, fast.
I was initially looking at the Leon 1.9 FR but my attention was drawn to the Ibiza Cupra TDi, which seems a lot quicker for the same money.
Could any owners here verify that I could get around 45mpg on easy going motorway journeys (driving sensibly, of course)? I like the idea of decent economy mixed with impressive performance. I've heard from a few owners that Seat seem to understate their performance figures. One guy claimed his Ibiza Cupra TDI was a lot quicker to 60 than its official 7.4 seconds suggests. Do any owners on here find this too?
Finally - and I know this is a Seat forum, but - are there any alternatives out there from other car manufacturers you can think of? I'm looking for a fast turbo diesel, preferrably around the size of a Fiesta/Focus. I've looked at the Skoda Fabia and Golf (eugh), and neither seem to offer anything like the performance of the Ibiza. Most Ibiza Cupras seem to be around £12,500-£13,000 (trade, about 5k on the clock) which seems a lot of money, so I'm looking around first.
Many thanks for any advice in advance
