I've got to be honest... I'd be gutted if my car turned up like that. I'd also hate to think what it will do to resale time, with such a well thought out interior ruined (IMO) by a slab of plastic with an aftermarket stereo lumped in the middle.

I also find the integration with the screen in the dials superb, so I'd be annoyed to see that doesn't work.

Sorry to be so negative, but that would ruin the car for me.

I had quite a long discussion with my dealer yesterday. I asked about the option of just having SEAT stereo system instead of the Pioneer Sat Nav. He said there were also shortages of those which is why they are upgrading non tech pack SE's/sports to the Poineer Sat nav Unit. I also noticed that Pioneer do a version of the AVIC-F930BT called AVIC-F9310BT that is specifically designed to to fit Seat/VW. It has all the features of the 930 which its based on. It comes with a matt black face that should match the seat interior. I would be much happier if they fitted this instead.... seems to make more sense.

You still need a facia plate for this in a Seat

I will swap you my standard head unit for your nav :)
I think with some creative thinking can make it look better

Looks like they use this kit to fit the AVIC-F930BT Link

Wonder why they couldn't use this one instead Link

I'm sure using the second option would of made it look a bit better. It would also be interesting to know if you could change the faceplate.

Hi all
I picked up my seat Exeo ST 3 days ago 7th Aug 2011. This has the new Pioneer model with problems. No steering controls, bad sound and no dash broad screen controls. Been given the run around from my dealer from day one. Now told the dealer will contact seat on how to fix the Pioneer as the dealers tec guys have no knowledge of the unit. Any body with any help on whats going on with this Pioneer **** up. please please contact me [email protected].

Joe not sure if you got this resolved yet, but I wonder if they forgot to fit the CTSAD00C lead to enable CANBUS integration for the steering controls.

Hi Dale , Yes they have forgot the lead and waiting for one for delivery from the docks.
Soon as i get this sorted i will give the model a full work out and let you know what i think.

Glad they finally ID'd the issue.
I look forward to your review of what controls work on the steering wheel and how the unit functions in general.

I had the following response back from BOSE regarding the change of the head unit.
"We are in contact with the colleagues at Seat to gather a better understanding of the capabilities of the substitute Pioneer radio. Because this requires a set of measurements and the direct cooperation of Seat we are still not able to predict a definite time to conclusion. We plan to inform you as soon as we have the needed information - i.e. the results of the measurements / tests.
Thank you for your patience."

I just went to my dealer and had a play with the PIONEER unit. It doesnt look as bad in reality as I thought it would, on balance I still prefer the look of the RNS. I did get chance to try a few CD's in it., the sound quality was not bad at all, plenty of depth but possibly not as deep as the RNS unit i tried back to back. I also noticed that there is black 'stick on' microphone sensor on the ceiling by the lights, I pressume this is auto EQ mic for the pioneer. (I actually thought the BOSE amp had its own MIC). It looked like one of those sensors you get with some internal car alarms. Anyway, i did not seem to be able to select auto EQ from withing the Pioneer GUI...it was greyed out. It could be user error as I didnt have the manual available.

yes I just realised the mic is probably for the phone, I looked in the manual and it is one of the supplied parts. Yes i did try the steering controls and both sides were working includiing the mode button.

Did the mute from the steering work.
When you selected mode what happened? Currently this goes to the phone book and displays on the DIS.
I assume there was nothing on the DIS and the Speak button on the steering did nothing also?

Thanks in advance for answering the questions.

Sorry i focused mostly on the audio functions as I'm not really a mobile phone user even when not driving so i didnt think to try the phone button. The button mode switched the mode on the pioneer from Audio/phone/media etc. The up/down arrows on the left of the wheel switched tracks or stations depending on which mode you are in. The right hand side adjusted the volume. Nothing was displayed on the DIS for the cd/radio. The engineer did tell me the car had not had its pdi done yet so not all the features on the on board computer would be setup.

Just to add I did not try the mute button

That sounds like a load of b******t , I don't think the Pioneer integrates with the DIS at all.

I think you may have misunderstood. He was not suggesting that the DIS would work/not work with the pioneer. Remember the dealers are as much in the dark about this change as we seem to be. He was just pointing out to me that the car had not had its PDI done yet. I pressume they might connect VAG.COM or something simlar during the PDI to enable/disable the original bluetooth.

But he OUGHT to know whether the DIS is supposed to work with the Pioneer, he's selling the car on behalf of SEAT after all!. If SEAT are fitting this then they should ensure that the dealers know whats meant to work.
For me, the DIS not displaying NAV information would be a big deal. Having used the RNS, I find the information on the DIS extremely useful and being almost in your eyeline, much better than having to look down at the centre console.
I very much doubt if the PDI would involve enabling/disabling functions, I would have thought that was done when the unit was fitted.

I'm not surprised to be honest. I found my local dealer to be shockingly unknowledgable.

So do we still not have anyone who can confirm this Nav DIS integration works?

As a matter of interest, which DIS are the normal Exeo's fitted with, the standard red one or the colour one ( as fitted to RNS equipped vehicles ) ?. The reason I ask is that even the RNS never integrated properly with the red DIS.
