My MK4 cupra is lowered on cheap nasty coilovers (which were present when I bought it), and it seems to knock / twang from the front end when turning / steering
- more present at low speeds too. Will this be factored in to the MOT test result? (its also decatted I just hope the MOT tester is 'understanding' lol.

Many thanks

i suspect the decat on the car will be a big no no unless you know the tester personally hehe then you may get away with it,
bt as the subject to the noise when steering aslong as the suspension is secure and there is no play or excessive movement in anything then that part should be ok bt i may be wrong.

My car has a rattle/bang now on slow turns over bumpy or cobble roads and its from the front ARB. But mine went thought the MOT fine so must be ok. Regarding the CAT, I didnt think it matter on them as my mate doesnt have one on his vRS and thats fine at the MOT.

all cars after a k reg are ment to have a cat but its poss to get through its down to the car and the tester. my bmw went through only just and i dont even no how that happend as i had bashed the cat out so all down to where you get it tested and who the tester is and if hes strict or pretty leanient.

strut top mounts are away, hence the noise and more apparent at low speeds

and unless you know the tester personaly then there is no chance your cupra will get through an MOT!!!

worth a try lol

Just to clarify - the garage has been informed of the decat, and mentioned they would 'sort' it, so I hope that shouldn't pose a problem.

I just hope it passes, as it's current MOT expires on the 14th :(

Re : the noises from the front end, lets hope so excessive play is found!

If your Cupra is a TDI the it should pass with a decat as diesels aren't tested on emissions...just a smoke test. If your Cupra is a petrol, with a decat, then it will probably fail the emissions test.

If the garage is going to sort out the Decat issue, it just means the emissions are taken using another car. When I worked at Nationwide Autocentres (before I left as i'm too honest and can't rip people off!), that's what they did, unless they wanted to get more money from you and fail it.
