Whilst on holiday last week I found that my LCR took an instant dislike to having people, or luggage for that matter, in the back seats or boot with my new wheels and spacers fitted so much so that the side wall of the tire was rubbing the inside edge of the arch when full ladden and not wanting to fork out for new tyres thought I had better sort it out.

Unfortuneatly this meant that the 20mm rear spacers had to go, even through the stance looked awesome, and were replaced with some 10mm Forge ones until I can get enough money together to get some coilovers to stiffen up the suspension.

Before (20mm's fitted)

After (10mm's fitted)

Although the difference doesn't look massive in the pictures it does look a lot better with the 20mm's on but at least this way I'm not going to shred tires when lugging stuff about.

I also gave the car a quick once over and cleaned out half a beach's worth of sand out of all the little cracks and crevices and aired out the lovely smell of damp wetsuits and took a few pics when was all clean and shiney.

I'm really liking the wheels but find they trick the eyes a bit as because the spokes don't run the the edge like standard LCR wheels they appear smaller although are still 18's. Really need those coilovers or at least springs me thinks.......:D

They really do look great against the silver, which again doesn't help with making them look smaller! Being honest, I prefer a smaller (or normal) wheel rather than larger as it can look a bit too 'max power'.

Well today was the AMD rolling road day and the first chance for me to get my car on the rollers to see if the figures I had from VAG-COM logs matched what the car was actually making.

So met up with a few lads at South Mimms services and headed down to AMD, with a little **spirited** drive enroute, and getting down nice and early got booked in so was not to far up the running order and not to long to wait to see if my car soared like an eagle or dive bombed like.................................................................a dive bombing thing.

So my turn came around on the rollers as I reluctantly handed over the keys I can only assume I looked rather sheepish as it was strapped down but all that was soon forgotten as the car gave a sterling performance and came back with 277bhp & 266ft/lb on the first run and 274bhp & 266ft/lb on the second run. To say I was pleased was an understatment!!

Heres a vid of the 2 runs although the sound is shite tbh....

Would love to work towards getting Stage 2 map done, and break 300bhp on a K04, but need a downpipe, sports cat/de-cat & 4bar FPR for this and with the impending arrival of my little one think this will have to take a back seat for a few months. Well we will see what happens as said I wasn't going to modify this back when I brought it...........;)

Another little update that I forgot to post earlier....
Whilst cleaning the car ahead of AMD rolling road day I decided that as it was no longer being utilised that my N249 valve and associated gubbings needed to vacate their seat atop coilpacks 3 & 4 and whilst I'm sure the resistor method works perfectly well I wanted to keep them connected, well electrically at least, but out of sight.

Now I know the common area is in the bulkhead but it being pretty tight in there already I opted to relocate to within the passenger wheel arch tucked right up out of the way as its a nice easy run and lots of room.

So this is how it looked before I set about doing anything...

100_1227.jpg

To keep the cable run looking stealthy I threaded cables through some silicone hose, same used on rest of the car, as tis would blend in when run through the engine bay. I know I could have reraced the wires back but that meant removeing lots of tape and it seemed lots of hard work for little gain. Anyway cable and hose combo......

100_1228.jpg

Location within wheel arch (function over form here as not the neatest but out of sight)

100_1229.jpg

Finished article looking lot less cluttered

100_1232.jpg

Whole engne shot with *birdnest* removed. :D

Looks a lot cleaner IMO and cable run so stealthy would struggle to find, it so happy. :D

Hi there,

Just read your thread from the start and although you had some bad luck to start the car is looking pretty damn good! Nice results at the RR day too.

Hi Ed,

Rolling road was a good laugh, and was my fisrt time on the rollers.

Thats a good set of figures mate!!!

I have pretty much the same mods as you with the only difference being your DV re-location kit, N249 bypass and the ECS N75. Plus I have a turbo back system with race CAT.

I only managed 264.4bhp & 253.8lb/ft (my curve is very similar to yours too)................Maybe I should put the N249 bypass back in :)

I want to get my car phase 2'd, not sure on Custom Code or AmD as of yet though.

Cheers

Lee

Hey Lee! Thanks for the kind words.

I've ditched the ECS N75 now as was causing boosting issues and wasn't happy with a full N249 bypass hence why I previously had a partial one. Now with standard n75 fitted I'm running a full bypass and feels a lot more responsive.

As for DV relocation certainly worth the money, IIRC its just over £100, so would recommened.

What map you running at mo as to be honest with turbo back system and race cat would have thought you would have pulled more than me......

As for which map to go for both AMD & Custom Code are good maps so end of day is down to personnal choice but think you may need a 4 bar FPR for both maps. :D
