my 1996 cordoba gt problems help

Today my 1996 N reg cordoba gt desided to not let me turn the key in the ignition :wtf:?? any ideas what to do, my car is stuck at my mates house , i tryed my spare key to but it just won"t turn and the steering lock is stuck turning full lock right next to the kirb, Just got the car last week been prefect till now:censored: HELP

Try bunny hopping the car away from the curb a bit.. Im thinking it might be that close and that tight to the curb, you cant get it to move enough to release the steering lock?

Have did this to m8 still no luck:cry: cheers for the replys to by the way

got it to turn and got it home , i sprayed wd40 into it then took the plastic couling off and hammerd all about the barrel and eventually got it to turn:funk: but when i went out to the car later it did it again:wtf:[:@]:censored: ?? new barrel time i think :cry:

Tam, does this have the old style keys?? If so the lock pin in the lock will be worn and the only solution is to change the lock/barrel..

if you can get at it remove the switch off the back first (hell of a job irrc) as that depicts the click stages of the ignition

with it off the barrel should move freely for about 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn

easier to sort what's at fault with it apart

can get a second hand ignition barrell but how does it come out ??

If it is the earlier lock set up you will need to dril a small hole in the housing as there is a locking key on the barrel itself.
