Thanks matey! Merryings of Christmas to you too!

It is just a brand new replacement item from Seat bud.

After the clonking of the old one (collars gone, usual fault!) the front end does feel tighter.

Just got the cambelt and water pump to go.

Well, finally got my finger out today and sorted the pesky little problem of no rear washer.

The problem I had was a leak inside the tailgate.

After following the guides on here, I started by taking out the inner tail lights

After finding the washer pipe disconnected at the rear washer motor, I reconnected and wrapped some tape round it to try and stop it from happening again.

After putting everything back together (only managed to break one clip!) I tried it out, and nothing. SO, I went back to the boot and found a leak in the N/S/R quarter (nothing unusual there!)

Evidence of leakiness!

Looks like this has happened before, there is evidence of previous tinkering! The only numbnut moment fo rme was forgetting to take the boot light out before removing trim, and yes, you guessed it, I broke it!

While I was there, I checked the N/S mirror glass as well as it hasn't been heating, on removal, I found it had a plain mirror glass in it with the heating wires taped up and pushed to the back of the unit. Hmmmmmmm, anyhoo, I've replaced the glass and we'll see if there is a more serious underlying issue.

Let's hope not!

Lol! Glad to be of assistance mate!

Gettiing the tailgate trim off was a pain in the ass. Just be gentle, definitely makes it easier with the lights out, you can see the metal clips poking through.

Seems to be the current problem on here over the last week or so! Sorted mine today, but it wasn't near the lights, just up the rear left side inside the boot. It had just popped off..

Stupid pipe, it shouldn't have any connectors, lol.

Hi Mark,

Mines not worked for a long time; no leak, pump turns over but no jet of water. Your thread has given me a kick up the rear to resolve this. Thanks mate :D Did everything go back together ok Mark?

Thanks,

James :)

Yeah, I know what you mean Tom!

James, everything went back fine, it's a little scary getting the tailgate trim off though, you feel like you're going to break it!

Mine had the same symptoms as yours, but the fluid was collecting on the tailgate seal and you could see where it was coming out of the tailgate lock area.

I figured the leak was only in the tailgate. How wrong I was............. Hahaha!

Brembo refurb is on the list chap! Just waiting for my new front pads and rear pads to turn up then I'll be on it. Rear calipers need a paint too.

Well, after feeling very lazy today, I got the boys at work to change my front pads and rear pads and discs!

At least that only leaves the caliper refurb to do!

Small update, cambelt and water pump done today along with the rocker cover gasket, no more leak! Yay!

Now just got to clean the bay up to my standard. Pics will follow, I'm hoping to get her a bit more shipshape for the S.E. meet coming up.

I'm worried I might have a slight led obsession! Got the front sidelights in, rear number plate lamps are in and I've just bought rear indicators and reverse lamp led's!

Think I'll leave it there though!

Pics to follow. (I know, promises promises!)

OK, so in prep for the S.E. meet tonight, I am going to go clean the bugger!

Will be the first proper cleaning session she's had since I bought her!

Going to take pics of her this morning, finished it late so I could go to the S.E. meet last night, that was epic!

Here's a couple of original pics I've played with:-

Looking good mate. What's next for her?

Cambelt/waterpump was a good job to do before you push the car's engine from mapping etc.

Well, for now next on the list is to fit the discs I got from Brad, then refurb the calipers front and rear.

Once the warmer weather kicks in, a full on clean and detail for the inside, outside and engine bay are on the cards.

OK, so I've promised pics for a while, here's a couple I took today:-

I've only scraped surface with the cleaning, the engine bay pics are after it's first quick makeover.

I'm hoping to have her gleaming!

And after admitting my job role at VW here's a couple of pics for you. :)

What with me being the drummer in a band and working for VW, it's always good to arrive at a venue in style! I tend to borrow this from the VW van centre next door to us!

I love it and we affectionatly call it the fun bus!

And here's my current company Golf.

I'll probably add more VAG pics in this thread, we've got the new Eos in at work if anyone wants pics?
