Sad to see it's up for sale, Stu. I had thought about selling mine but after driving it again I don't know if I could.

And now we must face the final curtain...

The cars final outing in my ownership was a rolling road day organised by Club GTi at Garage Streamline dedicated to naturally aspirated 1.8 & 2.0 EA827 VW engines. Predomently Mk1, 2 & 3 Golfs, mine was the only SEAT in attendance.

Car achieved 197bhp 148lbft on the Dyno Dynamics rollers, netting me a trophy for best powered ITB'd/Carb'd car on the day which I'm quite chuffed about!

About a week after I had put the car up for sale an interested buyer came about and a deal was struck. The buyer intends to compete with it on tarmac rallys which I'm pleased about and will undertake a further evolution.

So thats all folks!

I'd like to say a big thanks to everybody who's assisted me with the car in any shape or form, its been a mostly enjoyable project to have worked on and develop.the car will be missed but not forgotten.

Sad times mate!!! At least it's being used for the right purpose... Proper rally slag now lol.

How come it only pulled 197bhp? Rollers running lower than expected? Because I have seen that yours usually pulls 225 plus!

Oh and if you looking for a derv now my Passat is for sale lol.

Dyno Dynamics rollers are known as heart breakers, plus it was bloody warm in the Cell!
lots of other reasons you could speculate about but it doesn't matter now :)

Update: Just found this thread, doh...

Bought this car, predominantly for the engine.....Wasnt quite sure what to do with it, as my other cars are all competition cars.
So, it sat there....
Did a track day with it and great engine, but too heavy and painfully crap gearbox
About 6 months ago decided to convert it to a tarmac rallycar
Quaiffe 6 speeder in with quaiffe diff
Stripped, dash out, sunroof out, doors gutted, chunks of wiring harness out etc
MSA Logbooked last month
Cadwell park 3 weeks ago. OPL practise shakedown day, Good laugh
1st rally Croft 29th Dec
Who knows what might happen, but it wont be boring.....

Good to see you cracking on with it, after seeing it advertised on pistonheads middle of last year I would of thought it been broken for bits/scrapped long ago..

Be good to see some pics in action:)

Wasnt sure what to do with it, so I advertised the rolling shell, at a relatively 'healthy' price. Wasn't that bothered about selling, and it didnt. Never intended to part with engine, rather it was bought to use. The box was way over geared, barely getting going in 4th gear at 100+. Loads of wheelspin also on slow corners, literally smoking the front tyres. The quaiffe is hugely better, gear change still poor. Not allowed to advertise any of the spare carbon fibre parts I have on here, so I wont....
Shed a canny bit of weight on it, not allowed to use the fibreglass doors I got with it, due to MSA rules.. Seats and belts were non MSA, so they are leftovers also. Its got quite a lot of extra bits on it now for MSA compliance, as you can imagine. Pity the poor alternator, its got to drive two PIAA low level drive lamps, and a bonnet pod with four cibies. Battery is back at the front, where it belongs (IMHO) Brakes are epic, once I dumped the rest of the ABS, as it was kicking in at every medium to slow corner. Rear brakes now have comp pads, as the OE were breaking up after croft. Still to do is convert the top end to solid lifter. Its got a wideband on, and the fuel AFR flies around all over on lift off, including exhaust flames.
