hi guys been having running issues lately cars not been wanting to rev over 4.5k properly and exhaust banging on gear change,so ive done some logs on block 1 (lambda correction) 2 (MAF) 20 (ignition) results are here.

looks like the maf seems to be ok and also the timing spot on but ive been told numbers on the lambda over 20 is too rich and needs looking at but i wouldnt know where to start lol...any help would be great

didnt get change to give it a proper go at today as its slippery as hell and full of panic drivers but you can get an idea

Looks like about 230bhp maybe a lil more, maybe we'll only log 2 blocks at a time from now on as its a little slow with 3 :)

Block 001 is lambda adjustment so doesn't necessarily tell you anything I dont think? Gotta be honest I'm not really that familiar with that one

exactly the syptoms of mine when my coil packs go. The reason it pops and bangs is because unburnt fuel is getting into the exhaust. (also explain why it thinks its running rich)

My coil packs werent completely gone only under load/high boost.

Im not an expert just my personal experience.

did a quick bit of research on it and found if its in the minus's its underfueling and if its around past 20 its over fueling,need to log group 31 as thats the air fuel ratio but i cant with the lite vagcom,the maf sensor readout wont be exact to bhp cause i didnt really rev over 4.8k as it doesnt haha thats the problem its hesitates around that and then pops as i change gear,car should be around 280bhp with the mods i have

coilpacks i had 1 fail around a month ago and i replaced 2 at that time so i do have 2 oldish ones in,but no misfires detected in vagcom scan...it is only on full throttle high boost when i have these issues

it could of done anouther one.. propably worth buying a new one and try it in all 4 cylinders see if it fixes your problem... I would advise then changing all 4 after if it does fix it.

Mine never put up a misfire code, only lambda errors which i assumed where caused by the mixture of unburnt fuel and the bangs..

£35 ish for a coilpack its got to be worth a try... and if it doesnt you will deffinately need it sometime in the future.

like you said need 031 and 115 really :( must be someone around you with full version? or if you're near Bill @ Badger5 I'm sure he'd do some logging for you on the dyno for a small fee

yea i think ill do some coil pack checks ive got a spare which i will move around and see if that cures it if not it needs the other checks....thing is if the air fuel mixture is out....2 things whats caused that and how do you go about making it right ? cheers

Alright mate

could be coils again but For the cost of a set of plugs id change them to rule them out first , have you gone to a colder grade? ,if your still on the standard ones heat range wise with all your mods id maybe try a grade colder ,

but id certainly look there first , for cost etc , how long since plugs were changed ? and what plugs are in bud.

just somthing to try before you spend loads on getting it diagnosed mate .
youd be amazed how often plugs get overlooked in these issues .

yea think ill try having all new coils in and see what happens then go down the plugs route...got ngk BKR7E's in atm,they look fine and are not that old,just puzzled to why all of a sudden it could be the air fuel ratio as ive no idea what causes it to just go out :S cheers guys

been out all day working on the car and cleaned plugs which look fine and replaced the 4th coil pack with a spare i had and its still the same :(,maf is fine from the logs and cant see why my air fuel ratio would be wrong....so i unplugged my n75 valve and took it for a run its only boosting to 10psi but i can have my foot full down on power and not have the popping holding back issues....then i plugged it back in and back upto 20psi but its like hitting a limiter around 4.5k and wont go any further then bang i change gear and have a massive pop from the exhaust...getting pissed off now with what it could be i dont know if getting a full set of coilpacks and new plugs will solve this as there's 2 coilpacks in that are relativly new and swapping them over and stuff is doing nothing....cheers

Buy 4 new plugs and 4 new coil packs, you have exactly the same syptoms as i had.
I done the same thing as you by using a spare coilpack and that made no diff.. In the end decided to change all 4, problem solved. Could be a duff spare one you have like I did.

I also done the same and unplugged my n75, limiting boost to about 7psi and it ran fine like you said.
The reason it ran fine is coz the coilpack is failing under high load/boost.. 4500rpm is about where peak performance of the engine is and where the coilpack completely gives up. Meaning no spark and unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust and thats why it pops and bangs.

put 2 brand new coilpacks in today to go along with the 2 that are already only a month old and i still have this problem waiting for new spark plugs to be deliverd tomorrow to try that but its only on full throttle like i can be a tiny tiny bit off from full throttle and its almost fine :S

also friday night prior to replacing the coilpacks it went down to 3 cylinders temporarily then was fine again so it must be ign related in some way

you might want to check the actuator , mine have sort of the same symptoms , if i'm half throttle will rev with no hesitation and pull all the way to red line nicely but i'f use full throttle especially in high gears if hesitates , had it logged by bill @badger5 turned ot my actuator weren't holding pressure, can't say for sure in your case but worth a check i'd say

what happend with it bill ? im a little stuck atm im waiting for some plugs to arrive tomorrow but im sure its ign related not the afr like we said a few weeks ago....what was the issue before ?

got myself a new problem today window regulator and motor packed up haha each day brings me something new :(.....but ive noticed that my exhaust is blowing and looking under the car can see condensation water and a little bit of smoke escaping from around the middle of the exhaust slightly looks like there could be a small hole,wonder if this is causing my car to be playing up with the rev issue ?

issue before was cutting out randomly, throttle body and a shed load of fault codes..
the fix then (2+ years or more ago now) was twisting the pins in the multi socket, so they forced a good connection. it had a clutch done previously and the loom had been wrenched about badly which i think kicked off the issue.

Yea I see bill it's not really cutting out just feels like something is restrictive.....would this small hole in the exhaust cause my issue ?
