As requested by some people.. here is my new brake setup..

Its an AP Racing 6 pot 330mm setup. Ferodo DS2500 pads and two piece slotted discs.
This setup came off a Mk5 GTi, only 6 months old, got it for a excellent price, so though.. why not :)

Yes, they stop well. They have the same bite as the standard brakes (312mm single pot) which were very good, but these will really shine on the track, hence why I got them :)

These truley are monsters. Had to get some 10mm spacers to clear the front wheels.

I have a set of AP 6 pots that I am trying to get put on my RX-7, they came off my old scooby. They are seriously good for trackdays, never had brake fade with them.

Plus those nice big red calipers look good under a set of 18's. ;)

The grooves on the disc dont care if which way around they are, its the cooling veins inside that count.

Yes I'm well aware of that.

What I'm saying is that these discs were taken off a Mk5 GTI (Simon's) and AP fitted his at the factory.

When they were on Simon's car the grooves go the other way as fitted by AP (as I have a pic of his setup)

Now Dan's pic shows the grooves going the other way which means Dan is now using the disc that was on the left hand side of GTI's setup, on the right and vice versa thus reversing the grooves direction and the veins direction within them.

The discs can only go one way for the veins to work. So if AP fitted it correctly on the GTI, surely Dan's set up with the grooves going the other way is wrong?

Interesting, I looked at a Golf advertised with AP brakes and then he removed them ... expect its the same one as his name was Simon too.

Small world, very nice golf too. Has he sold it yet?

It'll be obvious

I've got the same discs on the Toledo and got all het-up about which way the grooves were pointing...

Then came to fit them and relised that there's nothing you can do about it anyway - the discs only go on the hubs one way and the vanes should always flow backwards for ventilation

This should explain it better -

The grooves above are cut the opposite to the ones in my discs, but there's no other way for them to be fitted - just manufacturer's prerogative I guess
