Hi guys picked up my first ibiza cupra last week and i'm well impressed. Lowered 25mm, 16'' OZ super 'T's, forge 007, Cat back miltek zorst and a remap of some sort i also have a dyno print out of 187 Bhp and 171lb torque. Does the torque seem correct in relation to the Bhp?? But it is running a standard airbox and filter.

remapped it should be seeing nearer 230-240 lbft of torque. As above, could be an R ECU.

Standard Airbox and filter are fine.

Is there any way i could find out what map or ecu it has. This is the only mod on the car which never had a receipt with it.

Im guessing if it has a map on it that it will have some sort of code written on it. How you would go about finding out what map i wouldnt know. Suppose you could try a mapping co for a free trial (i.e revo) alot of companies can tell if you have a map in place when they plug u in.

I reckon its more likely a Cupra R ECU due to the figures. If thats the case you wouldnt have a code left on there like revo or anything meaning you should be able to map it in future without any probs

If it is mapped then surely those figures seem a tad low? especially with the cat back etc? as a friend of mine had his mk3 cupra mapped by revo and got 194 bhp and 249 ftlb of torque, and his is completely standard, apart from a smoothed airbox.

BHP isn't too fsr out and could be put down to RR, but torque is definately low, which is why i would say it's an R ecu. Get a boost gauge on it and find out what sort of boost it's running.

Or it could be running like **** and have a decent map on it.

I very much doubt it has a cupra r map on it,down to the fact there wasnt that many made.

my friend had a oettinger map on his car and it was rolling roaded at around 175bhp and it turned out that his MAF was buggered and his timing was out, sorted both of them out and away he went :D

The BHP is not the issue though, it's the lack of torque, which indicates it's not a remap it's a cupra R ecu imo.

If there were any issues with timing / boost / maf then the bhp would be affected aswell.

Thanks for your replys. Got myself a boost gauge just need it installing to see how much boost its running. Then i think a trip to local RR as the date on the old graphs is 2004. My m8 has a 225 TT and we went out in that then a blast i mine and he comented on how well it pulled. Possibly pointing to bad RR or possible boost leak???

Thanks again chaps!

My car is bright yellow and full tints. The owner you mension about having the GSI is a work friend of mine. I was going to ring ricci concept this morning about booking a RR session. How much will it cost on the day?? I'm not often in town as i live near Withernsea (sh*t hole).

When I had my R mapped I had issues with it. The hoses had perished and the maf was playing up. Although the power was down alot it was still pumping 191lb ft. Now its more 220lb ft.

So still with issues it had more torque than what hes getting, and I had some long issues!

Is shaun his name? My GF know's him quite well, It's £20 a car (usually much more but it's a demon vw RR dayso it's cheaper) and the rollers are good for 350bhp, There is gonna be a loads of us codheads there so come along mate, more the merrier, maybe ricci concept could help you out with your ECU/remap situation, hope you figure it out bud
