Navigation System High now on October Price List

The HDD would be worth having as everything will work quicker. No more whirly wheel.
The screen resolution is also a gain but the size IMHO would be negligible as it measures the diameter. Basically it still has to fit in the same hole in the dash. So all they can do is shave a few mm off the bezel.

Now if it came with free updates......!!

Screen resolution is 800x600 apparently. The dealer showed me the PDF detailing the new nav system. Mirrorlink is the best thing the new unit has: gogo Google Maps

Google maps makes it very tempting - might check with the dealer to see if it's too late to order it or not.

Thanks, looks good. Though not sure I can justify the extra grand. On the other hand it comes with the seat sound system, and instead of paying for an update to the sat nav in a couple of years you could just use Google maps instead.

Are you sure SEAT's offering actually includes MirrorLink? I don't see any mention of it in either the PDF brochure or the car configurator info on that option, and given it's premium you'd think SEAT would want to shout about such a significant enhancement as that.

Having that would certainly make it more appealing and if it could be taken as an upgrade on the regular nav (so only ~£500 difference) then I think I'd be trying to persuade the wife, but not at the full price.

Even though the video was useful I'd have to see it in the flesh before forking out that sort of money.

Ideally, it would work like the tomtom on my iPhone used to (for some reason they removed it). You used to be able to do a google search within tomtom for, say, a restaurant you wanted to go to and then tomtom would route to the address the restaurant had put in its Google profile. Worked so much better than the native points of interest list in tomtom which I found have hardly anything I was looking for and to be pretty inaccurate. I can't imagine the seat nav point of interest list would be much better.

I'd certainly consider paying for some sort of integration between a Google search and the sat nav if that's what mirror link might help achieve bit if be surprised if it did.

hey guys.. anyone knows where to get one of the 6.5" systems? except dealership.. I don't think the dealership's sells after order the media system.. even the 5.8 systems are "special order" and take up to 4 months. I know the are not cheap. but may be willing to pay. thank you.

Just tinkering with the www.seat.co.uk configurator, it seems you cannot spec the Seat Sound Pack without going for the high res navigation anymore.

Interesting - obviously someone has to make these changes. I'm wondering if they are trying to simplify production by having just SEAT Sound + Navigation High, rather than a seperate install for SEAT Sound, and SEAT Sound + Nav High.
Though it is not on the October brouchure, they do say the configuration can change at any time.

I have specced SEAT Sound and would have liked the 6.5" Nav High, but £940 seeemed steep for less than an inch increase in size.

I would swap imediately the 5.8 system for the 6.5 Nav and would pay extra for it.
The 5.8 is slow, very slow and is a nightmare in big European cities. It can't keep up and is lagging terrible.
Got lost in Milan Italy in October and thanks to my Sygic on my phone I could find my way out there.
Same experience in Rome and Paris.
Zoom function is terrible and searching a poi when driving takes forever so you will miss the exit.
In the end it is a horrible system what only works well on simple routes and cities.

Yes I saw how bad the navigation is, fortunately I will never really use it. Though I think it's totally inexcusable considering the fact a very low end, basic sat nav or cheap low end smartphone is much better. I just wonder where they find the parts from, they must go out of there way to acquire such low end gear

Funny that I am 5 months in now and never had any bother with my sat nav, used in Edinburgh, Glasgow and all over the Scottish Borders, Fife and the Lothians.
