anybody else had or heard of rear windows breaking for no reason? seems to be a major problem at my local dealer, they have had about 10 since christmas time!

Heard it mentioned on here...the heated rear windscreen stuck on or something?

they seem to break at any time for no reason, some customers cars have been sitting for hours or even over night, some happen when driving

Can't imagine the force and the number of times it takes to close the tailgate can do the rear window any good. Surely SEAT could have designed a better closing mechanism!

As Langy already pointed out, mine went 2 weeks ago, not a pleasant experience.
Mind you it's been made even worse by the fact my dealer still hasn't got a new rear screen in yet, and they've given me an astra estate to drive round in!!!

Doesn't work like that though, this is a warranty fault, so the part needs to be provided by seat uk. Same as any other warranty part that may be required.

If it has just be broken by a person, then yes, you would get the part from auto-windscreens, but you would also have to pay for it!

I find that you have to push down on the boot somewhere above the rear lights for it to close first time. Was the same on the altea we had for a while....worse than hook-a-duck at the fair...

Thought the idea to close the tailgate was to pull it down by the handholds "inside"the tailgate and let it go, not to have to push down on the outside!

If that's the case why put the handgrips there.

To allow you to pull the boot down so that you cant then shut it. Would be a bit high for a lot of people to reach above it to pul lit down....

I find the handgrips perfect for closing the boot - no problems getting my hand out of the way either and it does tend to shut 1st time.

this all falls down when you have an armfull of shopping and cant get to them of course... then its 2 attempts to shut it from the outside

I agree with dchbrown as far as the handgrips are concerned but it dosen't always shut and then you are left with trying to slam it from the outside which involves getting your hands filthy if the car's dirty or fingermarks on the bodywork if the car is clean. I just wanted to make the point that it shouldn't need having to judge the slam force to shut a tailgate. I've seen owners of other makes of hatchbacks closing their tailgates without going through the performance that I have to on ocassion. (and no I'm not going to change to another make!)

Sounds like the catch plate needs adjusting, as I can pull the tailgate down with the interior hand grip without a problem.
