yeh I think that chipping then turbo will be the way forward, with the obvious suspension upgrades, cage etc. Will give Bill a mail in the weekend and see what he reccommends I do. Nice to know there is plenty of sound advice floating around. Cheers for the heads up !

Bill would be good for ancileries like brakes, bushings etc but your port of call for Turbos is more like JBS, as you have seen they are doing a K04 hybrid that sounds quite interesting

If your going for big power invest in an LSD and uprated clutch. Look for a progressive map rather than one that will give you outright max bhp.
TBH I would plough that sort of money into a car, if your not happy enough with the car to spend maybe a £1000-1500 pounds on it then sell it and get something better.

i,ve got the ideal people for you to talk to,backdraft motorsports,as they deal in everything to do with the 1.8t engine.don,t be put off when it goes on about audi tt racing as the engine in the cupra is the exact same one as the tt.they can do a full engine stripdown and rebuild with upgraded parts and put on bigger turbo,s.best thing is i think they are in your neck of the woods too ,or at least not as far as me being up north

Injectors V's FPR rating is not a simple one when going Big Turbo. When just going for a straight remap it is a bit more simple. With big turbo it all depends on the injector size.

If he had that much dosh, why not start with a cupra R in the first place? You could of got a 03 reg cupra R for not much more than 7500...

i wanted to get a cupra R but the insurers laughed at that idea. Im only young unfortunately, but I wanted to do something a little different too. Don't see too many mental Cupra's?? In all honesty though I just cant wait to get started on it. Im going to do my research after xmas then consult with you guys what the tecchies say, prices etc and then get cracking!! Ultimately big turbo, injectors, etc while keeping the car discreet in its appearance bar alloys, lowering etc.

Guys really appreciate all your help and advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An will the insurance company know anything about the upgrades?
As you can expect we would all strongly disagree against not telling your insurance company
AND if you had problems trying to insure a LCR then a Big Turbo job will be very expensive

If you want to track it ... and stay on the track .... then forget the "big turbo" ideas for now :)

Brakes, Suspension (coilovers, ARBs, Polybushes, braces), exhaust (turbo back, new race CAT), good air intake, FMIC, engine mounts (rear is a must) and a stage-2 remap (done custom to your mods) are what i would do.

That way you'll have something that'll still go quickly, but will stay on the black stuff when you chuck it into corners ... hehehe ......

But when it's all said 'n done .. it's your cash ;)

yeh thing with the insurance is that I can afford it, but asked them about a 50% bhp increase and it was still cheaper than the LCR, which I thought was strange. But i think that DDave is right maybe big turbo isnt the best place to start, progressing to it after other bits are done.

cheers
