Noise from rear when wet/cold

Noise now gone on my car for the past week.

yep get the same creaking noise going over speed humps when its wet. just a design flaw I reckon.

Ours started clunking and moaning recently. The noise sounds like it's coming from under the back seat, like the fuel tank is about to fall off. We put it in the garage on Boxing Day and rolled it out on 7th Jan. The car has been used every day since and it's wet weather everywhere. The noise is getting worse as the days progress. I had a look underneath yesterday and nothing appears to be loose or damaged.

A trip to the dealer I think.

Is there a permanent solution to this? Getting a bit annoyed with the creaking noise from the back everytime it rains now! A different type of suspension bush maybe?

I have not read all of the thread but just to say I get this too sometimes, I think it's the rain getting in between the metal spring and the rubber spring seat cushion

mine sort of makes a noise like wet trainers on a kitchen floor

i also had this with my standard suspension, not always on speedbumps though on my mates weirdly sloped driveway, its stopped since i put the coilovers on.

This might explain my problem a bit more, i think I have worked out now its not a tailgate rattle, its this creaky noise.

Would also make sense that its got louder this last week with all the snow we have had !

There is now a recall out for the "creaky rear suspension when cold" problem. My dealer replaced my rear springs and shocks FOC and this seems to have sorted it so far.

It's going in for a service soon, so I'll ask the guys for more info on exactly what they did and let you know what I find out.

How do you know there is a recall, just because you dealer replaced yours? Is yours still in warrenty?

Yes, mine is still under warranty. I was collecting the car after some other work had been done on it, and I just happened to mention that the rear suspension was creaking badly in the mornings on the way to work. I bought the car in the summer, so this is my first winter with it. The service chap told me that there is a recall out for this, and it involves changing the rear shocks and springs so I just asked them to book it in. There was a bit of a delay as the shocks were out of stock for a while.

Mine is quite bad, I also now have a very annoying squeek coming from the dash aroung the instrument cluster.

Does anyone else get a sort of crunching/creaking noise from the rear suspension when its wet ? i get this when going over speed bumps mainly.
The noise goes away when the weather dries up but with the cold damp weather continuing its starting to P me off, is it worth taking the car back to the dealers as its only one year old? or does anyone know a quick fix, oh my car is a Ibiza Cupra TDi. Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem on my tdi too. The dealer dropped the rear axle beam to get access to the mounting bushes which they lubricate with a 'special' grease. Mines under warranty so they did it as a good will gesture as the warranty will not cover work for noises!!!, Unfortunately since the roads have been salted the noise is very much back. I am awaiting the senior technician to ring me to discuss what next, will let u know
