I have a 2008 Sportrider TDI, I took the car to the dealers with this problem....they are replacing the rear shocks as they seem weakened? Its only done 6k and has already had the top joints of the rear suspension replaced under warranty......

After the bad weather we have had my rear suspension started making nasty squeeks like wet trainers on the kitchen floor.

I removed the rear wheels today and sprayed some motorbike chain lube into the rear beam pivot bushes and all is now quiet like it should be.

I know that my bushes are not worn out because the car has only 17k on the clock.

Yeh mine does this too over speed humps and EVERYDAY when I leave home over the cattle grid I have to turn the music up it irritates me. After they did my cambelt a few weeks ago the front started doing it and they greased the bushes and said they need replacing soon but it has stopped for now so leaving it as have to pay for car insurance this month.

Have you lot got coilovers is this an expensive cure/excuse to buy them!

My suspension is stock, my back is too bad for anything harder. It was very easy to do, just jack it up, remove the rear wheels (one at a time) and spray some motorbike chain lube into/around the rubber bushes where the rear beam pivots (just in front of the rear wheels) The chain lube grease comes in a can with a straw so you can be realy spot on with where you spray it.

Took me half an hour and I cleaned my rear calipers to make the paint shiny again whilst the wheels were off.

I'm gonna try this, mine is creaking real bad over bumps..sounds easier than messing around with copper grease - I always end up with more over me than anything else

Yeah, bike chain lube is very sticky and doesn't wash off in the rain so I thought it would be fine.

I found it at the back of my garage, the can must have been 20 years old, I stooped riding a bike when I passed my car test in 1989 :-o

Any news on your squeaky belt tensioner ? My squeak seems to be getting worse.

It's on the todo list :p Almost bought a 2nd hand one but will probably have the same problem so will get a new one at some point. I have other squeaks to deal with first (brake pads or stuck calipers ).

My creaking stopped all together last week ... then we have had snow again sunday and yesterday, and its back.

Im waiting for "decent" weather to get under the car and take a look, but we havnt really had any yet.

Thanks for the reply jeb :)
Unfortunately I don't have quite enough copper grease to FILL the void, and the car is in the air until the paint dries on the brakes lol. I have loads on the two mating surfaces, and some around the edge, would that be enough? Or would you advise I go buy lots more copper grease tomorrow?
Cheers

Hi George, long time no hear. Hows the rear suspension noise on the biza ? Mine came back so hassled the dealer to sort it. Since then not a single sound. Here is what they did.
When you look under the car there is the big bush assembly where the bolt goes through to bolt it to the chassis. either side of this there are seals 1 each side that are bonded to the chassis( slim ones). They REMOVED them so the large bush does not 'rub' against the others. Just had car MOT'd and no problems. Mine is well quiet now. No grease req'd either !!::D

Hi Jeb :)
Well I did a bit of reading about copper grease, and got the impression it does nasty things to rubber so I cleaned it all off and spent a few quid on a tub of red rubber grease lol. I packed it in the bush, over every mating surface I could get to, and it seems to have sorted it! It was never awful in the first place, but it is literally silent now :)
