Well, to my mind its a better attempt at the shape than any of the others that has gone before it, but seeing that profile along side the Altean and i just think why are they so lazy.
Facts are, its an Altea slightly steamrollered to be lower and flatter, pimped up with big front bumper (from the Ibiza), flared wheel arches and some bling wheels. Take these additional bits off (as i'm sure the production version will) and you have your slightly steam rollered Altea again. I also dislike (now this is true for Altea and Toledo) the way the bonnet curves inward, it just doesn't look right. Interior is nice enough though.
The one thing that really grates me is the way they have thrown out all of the styling cues from the old Leon and just wasted a really nice shape. The new Leon looks more like the current Ibiza which i find daft (those rear lights are just identical).

sorry to sat but i think its an insult on the old eon- especially the cupra R.
y squash an altea and brand it as a sporty hatcdhback when it looks like a pensioner bus wid styling. v. disappointed
enough said 2 b honest. apart from the fact that sales figures will crash im sure of leons. any1 witha cupra or R, keep them and make money from selling them in 10 years when leon just get crapper an crapper

things have to change shape. if you get the same angle shots from all round both Leon's - there's no argueing that the old one doesn't look good still - but it just doesn't look 'modern'
don't get me wrong - it's not bad at all for a 6yr old design at all. just not cutting edge any more
i'll bet my bottom dollar that neither will be worth more than a grand in 10yrs time anyway, so I doubt anyone will 'make money' on them

I'm glad they moved away from the old Leon shape, as that has just been ripped off big time by the new Focus, so any attempt to modernise the old shape would have just looked like SEAT were copying Ford [shudder!]

All good to me. A little Altea ish but as I like the Altea that makes no odds to me. Obviously there will be some changes to production but overall I think it will be one of the most stiking cars on the road.
I will be changing the LCR in 3 years. By that time a Cupra version will be out and , price depending i.e not the same as the golf gti, i'll be ordering one on an 08..

I definitely want one - coming from a family of wife and two kids, this will be the next step no doubt. After buying the Mk 2 Cupra.
Whilst there is only a slight difference with this and the Altea this is the one for me.
Can't wait to see what the Cupra R looks like!!!

There won't be a Cupra R that gets changed to CUPRA
Current CUPRA has already been changed to FR.......
When are we gonna see some shots from a human view angle as opposed to the hedgehog shots we've got?

I thought the current Leon shape was crappy when I first saw it - like a slighty better blobby Astra. I like it now mostly because of the extra bits on the Cupra/R/FR.
Oh and I wouldn't have given the model a second look if the yellow hadn't caught my eye first!

It was so sad to see the new Altea and Toledo - Seat sucking up to a Renault Megane. And I was praying that Seat wouldn't ruin the Leon as well, but......now Seat has copied their third Renault Megane - sad! All the things I love about the Cupra has vanished. The old front screaming "I'll eat you for breakfast" - the new front screaming "Launch of the new Armani aftershave called Family Car".
Don't Seat know that their customers loyalty comes from 100's of thousands of young kidz whose first car-love is a 1990 Ibiza, who work their butts off to be able to afford the "R" on a chequered flag.
When VW re-launched the Golf GTi, what was it people were so enthusiatic about? Another masterpiece, true to its origin as an aggressive superb speed machine, which could drive circles around your neighbours 100.000 euro Porsche. That was also what the Cupra was all about, a masterpiece......and now, I am looking at a super-trendy aftershave family car.
I hope the new Leon is the result of thorough marketing research. They are probably going to loose most of their current customer base, and move in to the family/shopping car market, so I hope for their own sake they know what they are doing. If they still think they make sports cars, they could be in for nasty suprise. Believe all can agree that the “old” Leon is a great design, and Seat should probably have spent more time on refining that, rather than spending their R&D budget on trendy lines. They could have improved the rear suspension, clutch or traction control, and all the other squeeks (I think) the Leon has.

again, for a more human angle (and there are some with the press release article) of how it will look when it comes to production, look at the Silver and Black cars that are linked on the articel on the main site.
The Wheels will be the biggest issue. If they are too small, then the car will look taller and undertyred.
One trick with car design is increasing the number of horizontal surface lines along the side to reduce its height. Look at a Zafria. While thats a People carrier, it doesnt look as tall as a Picasso (by quite a bit). Same with the Ibiza and Fabia. Ibiza looks "heavier" than the sharper edge Fabia. This is possibly one of the reasons why the diagonal swage line was introduced, to reduce its bulk. The creases on the arch are another example (again, something the Ibiza doesnt have)

Sorry don't know where you are coming from.
Current line up is FR (old CUPRA) and CUPRA R.
As I was saying and wonder what the CUPRA R version of the new seat is going to look like.
