sjbvs said:So 240 for the cupra, 197 for the FR - typical VW pattern - 240 = R32/4, 197 = GTI FS 200 - hints therefore to a 160 or 170 bhp diesel as per the Golf GTI TDI planned for May this year.
Start saving then!!?

quote from auto express
Engines from VW's FSI petrol and TDI diesel range will be available when the Leon arrives. The Geneva show car was fitted with the 197bhp 2.0-litre turbo from the Golf GTI, coupled to a six-speed DSG sequential manual box. This combination is tipped to appear in the next Leon Cupra, while an even hotter 220bhp Cupra R could arrive in 2007.
i thought there was not going to be an r any more![]()

Daibill said:So what lump will they put in the cupra then? A higher output fsi unit?
Syphon said:V6 possibly?![]()

dangel said:Yeah - dream on - the V6 is coming along with the 4 wheel drive haldex system![]()
Syphon said:Remember, it is soundling like the Leon Cupra will be on par with the R32. If the FR is 200BHP and is level with the R32 - V6 would be the next logical step surely. I'm guessing the FR will be similar in price to the LCR and the Cupra will be around the 20k mark.
Pure speculation of course

they have to put their case forward to SEAT Spain to 'tool up' for making the vehicle in whatever spec - together with projected sales @ £xxxxx
SEAT Spain decide based on the likely hood of selling it.
