that's why I use the cheap stuff, twice a year with cheap seems better than once a year with something costing £15 more.

Wrong oil ............. put mobil one in it or even better Castrol edge . The correct castrol edge says "for vag engines on the label .

Cheap oil in a very expensive engine is a false economy . It wont protect the turbo bearings etc . let alone the bottom end . Whats £15 against £ 900 for a turbo , £1500 for a new head and cam and £2500 for a new short engine . Or £ 900 for a secondhand lump off ebay with no provinance, ALL plus LABOUR CHARGES to fit !

Echo what wildrides said. Cheap oils are cheap for a reason, they're crap. Don't contain enough of the protective additives. Always make sure the oil you use meets the correct VW spec.

Personally I use Castrol Edge Pro or Magnatec Pro on any car I own. Use it all the time at work and definitely worth the extra cost over cheap alternatives.
