Oil Temp?

Mine is normally 90 only goes to 100 if it doing a regen
But then mine is a diesel, so it probably doesn't help you much
That said the petrol cars I've had don't remember them getting to 100 very often the fan normally kicks in before
Usually 70 C on my 1.4 (Golf mk6). 100 sounds really hot!!
Make sure to check the coolant level...
how do you know the oil temp? do you mean coolant? if so check levels , get it pluged in. i have had 8 vag cars and never has it gone over 90 degrees.
The display on the dash board isn't oil temperatutre surely? (not got my car yet) You'll get the oil temp by scrolling through the digital display.
The temp guage on the dash of most cars is water temp. I would say a 100 degree oil temp is perfectly normal. My Golf and Skyline both run an oil temp of 100-105 in all conditions.
UPDATE; after googling a picture of the dash I'd say that yes, the guage in the corner of the rev counter is water temp but I only found a blurry image. I'm sure the OP is talking about the digital display and some of the answers here refer to the water temp guage.

Your above quote makes it sound like your reading the oil temp from 2 different sources?
Mine only has one display for the oil temp and two for coolant temp

The display within the rev counter does display oil and water temperature on the MK3. 184 FR TDI at least.
Mine is a pretty static 90 water and slightly more for oil.... maybe 95 but varies acording to driving style.

I have just checked the Leon Mk3 maual and photos of the dashboard in the Leon Mk3 brochure, and there is only one extra gauge within the rev counter dial and this is for coolant (water) temperature only. The only other extra gauge is for fuel level, which is within the speedometer dial. Do you mean that you can read the oil temperature on the rectangular digital display mounted between the rev counter and speedometer?
I have a Golf GT 1. 4 TSI and it is the water temp that is at a constant 90 when it warms up. It is on the dash under the speedo. I am getting the 1.8 TSI FR so I would expect that would be showing the water temp as well as being 90 degrees as the same tech.

Yes you can read the oil temp. from the rectangular digital display mounted between the speedo and rev counter.
The menu is:- Driving Data
Coolant temp
Oil temp
Speed
Average speed
Journey distance
Travel time
Range
Average consumption
Consumption
These sub menus are selected via the right hand steering wheel thumb wheel when in main menu driving data.
I hope that makes sense, but it is late.
Thanks for posting this, I thought I was going mad, after saying about the oil temp in the dash display, I went out in my Leon tonight, which I just got back after 2 months and thought I'd check the oil temp out of curiosity, its not there?
Its missing from the display?
It was there before and I checked the owners manual as soon as I got back and it shows it in there
Is anyone else missing it from the list?
I've checked the settings on the main display and its not there either
That sounds normal, if its only getting to 100 in traffic, then I would not be concerned
As for condensation in the oil, the engine at normal operating temperatures will burn it off
I thought that too, but been for a long run and its still not there

Apologies to the op for butting in on his thread, but I thought as were talking about temps and there seems to be confusion about what gauges are where and the oil and water ones getting mixed up, I'd see if maybe anyone else is missing a gauge display or if anyones had this issue
On my 1.8TSI the dash gague reads one blip for a while however both the Water and Oil guages on the MFD do not read (Or read ---- ) until 50C but I use the MFD as it is obviously a more accurate measurement.
My Water stays at 90C as it should, the oil sits between 100-108C but then my commute is ~13 miles at an average of 10mph most days
