HI Everyone
Well i couldn't wait and after testing a FR for 4 hours today, i put a deposit down on a brand new 57 plate Cupra.

Got it in Red in the end and i am going to pick it up on the 14th. i hope and then take it on a nice drive to Leeds to see the Girls Family for the weekend.

Anyway quick question??
what should i look out for when i pick it up?
Also what desial should i run it on?

Thanks
Phil

Gratz on the new car, I'm in the process of trying to change my FR, most likely to a Cupra TDI. Popped into a seat dealer on my way home to see what price I could get a Cupra TDI there for but the sales guy just wasn't for giving any discount.

Gonna go to another seat dealer tomorrow night and see if I can squeeze a better price out of them.

Just give the car a good check over for scratches, anything that appears to be damaged etc. at the dealers before you drive off in the car. Basically just the usual kind of check you know you should do but usually forget as your hyped up about your new car.

Check the paint carefully as well for any marks, mine obviously had a bird c**p on it at some point and it's marked the bonnet where it wasn't cleaned off, unfortunately I didn't spot that until about 2 months after I got the car.

As for what diesel to use, I think it's personal preference, there have been a couple of threads on here about what's best and no firm conclusion ever reached, I personally use BP ultimate and have never had a problem with it. Standard BP does produce more smoke. Try a few and see what works best and smokes least is my advice.

Phil, don't panic if they do look wonky they aren't. The body line of the car dips towards the front, the badges are actually straight.

ok thanks for the reply guys.

I will give the car a good check over.

I was going to wait for a yellow one but decided if thay could get the red one for the 14th then that would be better. But as there pushing it all throu quick i will be sure to check the car well.

Do you get more MPG witht he BP ultimate? i know V power gives petrol cars more MPG.

Congrats Phil!! Can't wait to see the Cupra. So what swayed your decision towards the Cupra when you went out in the FR?
As for checking the car, I agree with what has been said before, check the paintwork, check for dents, scratches. Have a look at the interior, make sure that everything is there and for marks or dirt on the seats, rooflining etc. Also make sure that you have your spare tyre, jacks as well in the boot.
With regards to using what type of Diesel. I filled mine up with ordinary Esso Diesel and the car runs really well on it. Sometimes I think these fancy fuels are not really worth it (as you will know from our days on the Coupe forum)

Check they've adjusted the tyre pressures down from the high pressures that are used during transit :)

Thanks dude. Well the FR was ok, but if i brought the FR i would always be thinking "I should have got the CUPRA" and then i would be spending all my money makeing it as fast and to look like the CUPRA. So i just bit my lip and brought the Cupra.

As for the fule, i remember all the talk on the Coupe forums, but then most people never listend on there, it is so much better on here. people are more polite and younger :p:happy::happy::happy::happy:

Thanks people.

As for the remap Mike..... i think i will wait for a few months and then maybe :D

Been haveing fun trying to get it insured...... my current insurance company will not insure me so i am haveing to move.

i went to greenlight and thay wanted over £1000 whitch supprised me. when i went to elephant it was £800. I am 21 with 3YNCB so i thought that was ok, my old car (Hyundai Coupe SE) was grp10 and was £550 so for another 6 groups thats not bad.

Any suggestions with insurance?

You should definitely try Brentacre they are awesome and don't up the price when you add mods unless it increases performance. My strut brace, rear arb, eibach's, FMIC, clutch, panel filter and intake were all added without a premium. It's only when you go for turbo's and remaps it'll go up but not sure how much as mine nearly halved last renewal and they just stuck it on as I told them that's what Adrian Flux was offering which wasn't completely true but it worked.
