Over heating problem...help!!

Hi all,

My Ibiza Cupra '02 (mk3) is suffering from getting too hot when sat in traffic.
The fan doesnt want to cut in despite checking fuses and replacing sensor (in rad) Going to check fan itself at weekend but is there a relay somewhere or something else i should be checking?

Have you checked temp sensor? GIve that a look and check the fan is working.

Have you replaced the fuses onto of the battery?
Is the fuse holder melted at all?

could be a water pump failure.

when moving the car is pretty much air cooled, but when stopped the heat will build up nicely. might be anothe rpoint to check.

I'll bypass fan and check that working
Had a new water pump a year or so ago (temp went through the roof when on motorway)
Where is the sensor located?

Id check the fuse closest to the wing on the battey fusebox as mine was going the same and it was that fuse blown to pieces

Ckecked fuse nearest wing and it looked burnt and pitted. Replaced it and will let it get hot shortly to see if that has solved the problem.

Fans still working well but plastic surrounding fuse i replaced has virtually all melted off. Too much current i feel. How do i sort this out......back to SEAT as manufacturer problem???
