How are you going to fit an emergency opener to the garage door to enable you to open from the outside, Paul?

All emergency openers I've ever seen involve a chain from the inside..

Ah, well, for garages that don't have another entrance, you're basically right - you have a chain on the inside. However, a slight twist to this, is that the chain is attached to a lock on the main garage door. (with slack in the chain) When you open this lock, you pull the chain through the door itself, and give it a sharp tug (oh er missus, ;) ) to relese the arm from the lock.

I doubt I'll ever need it - but you can see that sods law would state that I either run out of batteries in the remote(s) or have a power cut. lol

I'm annoyed that it's really grey and drizzly outside today.

But sod it, I'm still going to get the car out the garage and clean it! :D

I've spent all morning and part of the afternoon cleaning the car. Gave it a good wash and dry, then "clayed" the whole car. Once the claying was completed, I gave it another wash/rinse and dry, and then waxed it.

She is gleaming again now - but in this weather it won't be for long. At least I won't need to clay for another 6 months or so!

I've also done some data logging to try and find my boost issues. See this thread:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234025

It looks like it's not reaching the requested boost - it's not getting there quick enough, nor is it holding it once it's there. A few suggestions would point the finger at a boost leak - but it's trying to find it that's the tricky part.

Try and check the intercooler pipes, from the turbo to the cooler and from the cooler to the inlet mani.

Then check the cold side, ie that the TIP is secured properly (both onto the turbo and to the airbox/airfilter), then check all the little hoses that go to the TIP and even to the actuator.

I had similar problems and it turned out to be a problem with the map....

Thanks mate, been checking them all afternoon.

Everything looks hunky-dory. Can't see any split hoses, or loose connections. Found these:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234042

But don't think it's related at all - besides it's all plumbed in ok (looks to go to the radiator) it just wasn't secured on the car properly - the 2 rubber grommets/clamps had come away from the radiator cowling. I've managed to get this sorted, although my hands are as cut up as a cow in a mincemeat factory. :(

How did yours end up being a problem with the map? I'd have thought the map set the requested boost and then if the car doesn't reach this then it's a problem with the car..?

hi paul,

just read your last couple of posts.

Was given the same suggestion about a boost leak but couldnt find anything at all. thats why the bumper didnt sit quite right, as i'd had it off to have a look at the pipes, as well as changing a number of the clamps just for peace of mind

the cable that wasnt connected at the front i'd never noticed. i'd only fitted the FR grilles a few weeks before you bought the car, so unless i knocked the connector and it came apart as a result i dont know?

glad to see you're cleaning it as much as i did. I only clayed it about a month ago!

hope all's well with it otherwise. hopefully you shouldve got that graph through by now. if not i'd think tomorrow

I had it on 3 different rollers and it only made circa 200bhp. Spoke to Will (P-Torque) and went to see him. Something to do with one part of the map interfearing with another part

Ended up coming away with a stage 2 map though :)

Hmm, don't think mines that bad. I know it got 220bhp on Regals RR, but on an RR I trust I know it got 211bhp.

Unfortunately, not being the person who paid for the map, I've got no way I can go to them and ask them to take a look - I've emailed them twice, and they've ignored me on both occasions. I've never liked them as a company anyway (bad experiences before)

All that said - I don't want to fork out £400+ for a different map I can trust (such as Revo or whatever) to gain customer service and a properly working car.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the message. I've reconnected the cable - no issues found there. As mentioned, I'm sure it's just something for the alarm and bonnet catch. Don't think you'd have knocked it - it's a very tight fit.

I've got the graphs, thanks. I'll get a copy of the JKM graphs from them when i go down there next. Probably try and get them to help with the boost issue too.

Regal have ignored my attempts to contact them about the map - unfortuantely this isn't unusual for them as they did with my last SEAT too. Not very good customer service at all.

I'll keep plodding on until I find the problem.
Cheers!

to be honest I went to them on a recommendation, and looking back I should never have done so

I went in twice about the surging, the first time they said it was my driving style and that i was feathering the throttle when accelerating because i was too scared to commit to full boost!
2nd time round they just said that it was the spark plugs. bought some uprated ones, problem never went away

Safe to say i wont recommend them to anyone though!

what are your plans for the car then? PM me if you dont wanna put it in the thread? as i'm intrigued to see if you're planning to go down the same route I would have done?

Thanks for the info.

Can you tell me everything that you've looked at/changed, so I don't go and do the same thing twice?

MAF looks ok, Green panel filter is in now and it's made no difference (I think you said on here that you took it out as it was causing the problem) and I can't see any dodgy hoses. I was going to open the DV up, check the spring/vacuum, but the lid is on so damn tight, and it's got a 1-use clip on the top hose so I need a replacement jubilee before I take it completely off the car. Might try a harder spring/shims just for sh*ts and giggles.....

Failing that - I might end up getting a different map put on. Not something I want to do, as it'll cost me a whole new map, but I want the problem sorted.

That's the first plan anyway. I know what you would/might have done, and I suspect I'm doing the same thing :)

I'd guesstimate that Ed hasn't swapped this out (correct me if I'm wrong mate) but that'd mean it'd have a green (weakest).

Changing spring never helped me in my Leon. But I suppose I've got to try everything.

Yea, it might be worth trying a yellow spring (thats what I use).

Was the DV brand new? If not it might be worth getting a service kit too..
