Thanks mate!
I now realise why ibiza's chew so many front tyres!

2nd drive was almost as good as the first - I still have a very slight issue where I feel the boost drop slightly and then power all the way baby, but it's 110% better than before. Well chuffed.

Interested to see what I'm boosting now - need to get VAG-COM logs, or when finances allow, a decent boost gauge.

Well it's been a little while since the last update - because not much has happened! :p

Today, however, was time to fit my KW's. Long story short - I have a car with KW's at the rear, and standard suspension at the front! We had problems removing the droplinks, and so have decided to keep the old kit on the front until replacements can be sourced.

It also turns out that the wheel bolts/locking wheel nuts I had for my rear spacers are tapered, and the wrong ones! :( The previous owner must not have noticed! So these haven't been fitted either :(

Fingers crossed we can get the rest of the car finished soon, so I can get my tracking/alignment sorted as it appears to be well "out" !!!

Oh, and to add to that list, I think I've got a boost leak now - upper intercooler hose area looks very oily/damp, so I can only assume that the hose is leaking probably around one of the clamps. So I'll need to source a decent hose for this soon.

Try using a pair of mole grips and clamp them inbetween the ARB and drop link, you can then get a spanner on the nut without it turning :)

Thats how I got mine off.

yeah - it's not gonna help me with a bolt that's half the length it originally was though :(
Was best to wait until I've got replacement droplinks so we can cut the old ones off and swap the suspension over.

Thought about it - but don't see the point?

Been told I won't have knocking problems with the KW's - and the previous owner had them on his diesel ibiza cupra with OEM droplinks and no problems...

Just been looking at your Briskoda thread (came up on google) and looked at your suspension kit photo.

Looking at it - your drop link mounting points are much lower than mine - which is why you probably needed shorter ones. Check out my pic on page 6 of this thread, and compare to yours - you'll see what I'm on about. :)

that's the jobbie :)
So fingers crossed OEM will be fine for me - save a few £££ which I'm VERY short of at the mo!

1/2 on mate :(
We (well, mostly m0rk) got the rears done easily enough, but fronts not so. (as above) - got the replacement droplinks, just waiting for a window of decent weather so I can drive to his, get the car up in the air and finish fitting the fronts.

Then alignment. :)
Service due in a matter of weeks, which hopefully will see a new upper intercooler boost hose fitted, which I'm hoping will help with the remaining boost issue. I've definately got more boost than before - so the n75 helped! But with the signs of a leak on that hose, and still a slight boost fluctuation, I want to fix that and then see how it is.

I've also got the wonders of car tax due next month, AND MOT a week after xmas! Finances are a right mess, and with lodger moving out and no replacement found, I'm REALLY struggling with money :(

Otherwise - all is dandy!

Are you replacing the upper cooler hose with another standard one then as the Forge item is only for the FR?

Well that was what I was planning, yeah... see if it helps. Admittedly i could take the current one off, and check it out, but chances are taking it off would just make it worse anyway, so need a replacement on standby.

Hi Pabs. It’s great to see you back on the forum with another Seat. Are you still happy with your Ibiza Cupra? Here’s a blast from the past: I still have your web page and fitting guides saved on my favourites tool bar…. How sad…. But I have to say that they’ve come in handy on more than one occasion! Kinda wish you got another Leon;)

I’ve never been sure about the bonnet bra’s fitment. Have you found yours to fit snugly enough? I’ve seen examples where they don’t seem to fit quite right, appear a little slack at the point where the bonnet meets with the S badge and surround, and doesn’t sit well on the contours of the bonnet. I would like one in principle, but have never been sure of which manufacturer to go with.

I hope that you get to the bottom of your boost issue and that the weather holds up long enough for you to finish fitting your suspension upgrades.

James.

Hi James,

Sorry for the late reply - I've been in hospital.
Ibiza Cupra is great - love it! Glad to see my guides etc came in use :)

My bonnet bra was a 2nd hand bargain - couldn't resist really. Don't use it THAT much (getting water trapped under it isn't good for the paintwork) but for long dry journeys and shows and stuff it's cool. Fits ok, the areas you've mentioned are a bit of a pig to sort, but it does seem to fit ok (as per pics)

I'm dying to get the suspension finished now - fingers crossed it's done soon. And then hopefully the service will give my car a clean bill of health for the winter and the MOT in Jan!

Cheers mate
Paul

I’m in a similar position Paul. I bought a second-hand pair of coilovers off Skorchio a month or so ago and I’ve been desperate to fit them ever since. The problem is that I like to take my time when fitting important stuff, and the weather has been pants recently. So, I’ve resigned myself to fitting them next spring…… but we’ll see…..

Thanks for your opinion on the bonnet bra. Hope all is well mate?

Right, well not much of an update at the moment I'm afraid.

I'm still off work due to my op, so I've now booked my car in for it's service next week, and when it goes in, JKM are going to fit the rest of the suspension kit and new droplinks as I'm not really in a fit state to do much work myself, and the weather isn't exactly on my side anyway :(

Gonna cost me a bit extra, but I'd much rather get it done and drive a safe and properly set-up car than the mish-mash I currently have.

So hopefully I'll be a happy chappy come next friday :)
