Thanks for all the updates lads, I've learned quite abit actually. I managed to secure a KKK off a Fabia VRS, its covered just 1200 miles so hopefully that will last me at least another 60k +.

I'll update the thread with some pics when it arrives, which is hopefully tomorrow...

It sounds like the oil seals have gone in your turbo and engine oil is getting into the turbine housing.

Theres not a lot you can do to cause this fault other than over filling the oil level................

Fair enough mate, like I say oil level is out of my hands as the dealer does it. I must say though with just over 1000 miles left to my service the oil level is definately not high now. The damage must have been done at an earlier date?..

How much you end up paying for it?

I payed £250 for it, which is a fair price I reckon. My mates fitting it, so i'll get some pics when he does it. I'll also get some pics of the epic white smoke just for a giggle.

I'll ask my mate if he'll help me do it, my guess he'll want to whack it on and take the beer and scarper! lol

Yeah Deffo get some pics on! Think you have to remove the drive shaft bit or what ever it is. Or I could just be talking garbage!

George I had the same problem with my turbo also an 05 model I don't drive the car like I stole it I treat it well and keep it well serviced etc every 10,000 miles. Has anyone else had simular probs with the 05???

I know the 130 Ibiza's have a KKK turbo, but what about the 160 Cupra? is that a KKK or a Garrett?

My turbo went at 56k luckily it was under warranty, its an 05 cupra 160, not sure what turbo is fitted now.

Just an update. My new turbo has been fitted. The old one had self distruct. My mate found the shaft lodged in the CAT, so I've been lucky.

The engine had dumped over 4 litres of oil into the intercooler and exhaust system in only 400 yards of running.

The new turbo doesn't pull as well, but I can imagine the injectors are pretty clogged and the cat is probably partially blocked with oil. There is still quite a bit more smoke coming out the exhaust than before as well. Either that or the turbo isn't what its supposed to be and the fuel map is now too rich.

I'll be getting some fuel additive soon to see if it picks up a bit.

Your cat will be proper clogged up with overheated oil, whip it off and fit a de-cat pipe. Dervs don't need a cat to pass an MOT anyway.
