well - lazy day or what.

ECU will be soldered up tomorrow night, as I'm off for an early birthday meal tonight...

so I've done the grand job of fitting the rear strut brace....

I'll tidy the wiring in a bit, and chuck the ABF 'loom' in the garage - then refit the fusebox etc.

well I did start the ECU, but the holiday got in the way.

Anyway - had a session on it yesterday, and got it talking on serial comms, but now it's all built & working 1st time :)

all I need to do is measure my sensors tomorrow, and I can set it up *hopefully* using some people's base maps I've found on the web.

it's just sat on my desk soak testing now :)

oh, and the datalogging rocks :)

resolution on it across many fields is pretty ace - 20 results every 0.063s - that's 15 every second

From http://www.megamanual.com/megatune.htm

GammaE
Gamma is the total enrichment factor, computed by MegaSquirt taking into account all of warmup, acceleration/deceleration, barometric, manifold air temperature and EGO sensor correction factors. (See Corrections/Enrichments, below.) Returned from MS as a percentage value in "gammae."

about time....

when's 'first-start-up' scheduled for then ?!? or is it a case of whenever it's finished !!!! ;)

I've got to measure the coolant/AIT sensors at work using the environments to get an accurate resistance for a few temperature points (they're basically thermistors) so I can set that up right on the ECU - and measure the range of the throttle pot (though I can do this in situ & let the software do it)

but all the basic stuff like number of cylinders/injector size/number of injectors/engine capacity is all input & saved - even uploaded a base map into it last night too (500-7200rpm) so I'll be able to get off to a decent start as that was off the exact engine)

Just need some sensible wiring to be done, to connect the Fuel pump/Coil/O2 sensor heating to a switched live, also need to wire to the starter solenoid to actually turn it over.

Wiring won't be a problem, but because it's outside I can't really do much soldering in the cold wind!

Luckily I have my old 16v wiring loom to splice into, but also F2Stu donated to the cause an immo free loom & ECU, so I might get that running on OE management for a couple of weeks until the weather improves.

latest update....

Megasquirt ECU all setup, base map installed, sensors setup.

Wiring Loom is WIP, quite hard to do, but attacked methodically it's OK - have used OE connections and stripped, soldered & heatshrinked the connections.

Also, bought some 2nd hand, but newly refurbed Hub carriers & 280mm brakes - haven't yet decided to keep the 280's or not, but the hubs will be cheaper than buying new bearings on their own

Also, in line with my KISS attitude on the car, I'm dumping things left right & centre - so I'm going to be running without Power Steering. bought a new rack on 'bay for less than a quid, so hopefully all is well & that'll be a top job :)

yeah, it wasn't all that heavy on the 1.4, and did feel more 'in contact'

will see how it is - but I have two spare powered racks otherwise... the problem is the pump though (it's a crap design) - so I might see if I can source an electric one
