please help on ARBs, what to get for my Cupra

Hi all, i have asked this question before when i was just thinking about it but i would really appreciate it if you could help. (especially as a lot of you are very knowledgeable when it comes to this type of thing) I know a fair few of you own Cupra Rs but i'm sure there are people out there who can advise/help for my Cupra

right i have some money, around £300 or so and i would really like to spend it on sorting out the 'roll' of the car. (I am not concerned about fitting costs)

Can somebody please advise me on what to buy and what is necessary to remember when purchasing (buying better bushes etc)

from info gathered and reading up on threads from here i'm pretty certain i would largely benefit from the following:

Front ARB (size...???) (make K/W, whiteline, Neuspeed????)
Rear ARB (size...???) (make K/W, whiteline, Neuspeed????)
front upper strut brace
Bushes (upgrade to TT/polyflex?)


As you can see i'm not really sure about sizes/ setups and am really hoping that a fellow Cupra owner who has achieved the best setup could advise me on what to get.

Most replies so far seem to recommend a 28mm adjustable rear ARB from Neuspeed. The front bar on the LC is 23mm so you might find that an upgrade there is not necessary.

I'd recommend the S3 upper strut brace from personal experience; and you should definately get the lower strut brace fitted either way.

Edit: For the LC the 25mm front bar might match the 28mm rear better as this was recommended for the Mk4 Golf GTi, which has similar front suspension to the LC I believe.

Thanks for the quick reply mate, I have been reading your threads etc although i didn't see any LC information. Being thick where this is concerned i am relying on the fact that somebody already has the perfect setup and could literally tell me what to get!

You suggested i get a front lower strut brace? do they not scrape over speed bumps etc

The S3 and LCR have the lower brace as standard (the S3 also has the upper brace). Haven't scraped mine at all. IMO both braces are necessary, and adding the upper really tightened things up on my LCR.

I'm on standard suspension on a standard Cupra TDi but with 25/28 Neuspeed ARBs and I think it's fantastic.

Always been on middle setting but might have a play in a couple of weeks and change it to the soft and hard settings to seee what difference there is.

uprated suspension, tt wishbone bushes, whiteline rear arb set to stiffest, s3 lower brace, s3 upper brace, new bushes all round, quaife atb diff, falken 452s, tt subframe bushes.... absolutly awesome mate, best money youll ever spend, makes my 235bhp seem muchos faster... not much will keep up in the twiaties now.

weitec ultra gt on the way next.... all that plus proper 4 wheel laser alignment = stupidly good handling car.

not cheap though.

CHeers also for reply, I noticed you've not mentioned front ARB!?

I have heard alot now about TT bushes, so (me being thick) you have them for the wishbone, ok, and you mentioned 'bushes all round' what are they? TT also?

i'll def get the upper/lower strut brace then, alot of you have suggested that

great, i'm nearly there! I know Nuespeed are expensive though so will be interested in checking prices on Whiteline/KW/Eibach etc

Correct. I don't have as much spare cash as some folks on here.

i would advise leaving the front arb at 23mm, then uprgrading to a 23mm whiteline 3 stage adjustable arb... set on the stiffest setting it works with the front nicely... front arb difference is negligeable on the cupra, the r makes a huge difference due to the arb mounting points being on the suspension struts themselves, as apposed to the wishbones on the cupra.

tt front, rear wishbone bushes, new oem standard front wishbone bushes, superpro arb bushes, new rear axle mounting bushes polyflex, superpro etc.

new oem topmounts or look at ina track density top mounts...

dont forget the dogbone mount if not already done.. id recommend ths on this one.

Thats great advice, where did you purchase all your bushes from by the way chap? i'm intersted to know if anywhere would supply a pack of bushes instead of having to purchase individual ones

I agree, i'll not purchase a front ARB and stick with the standard 23. What if i got a 25 rear ARB? would that be better/ no difference

definately will be getting upper and lower brace anyway

I noticed in another thread that you mentionesd the possibility of a group buy going on for ARBs but couldnt track this. Do you know who is up for a group buy for ARBs?

I can only seem to find the Whiteline Rear ARB in 22 rather than 23mm!? I'm now for some reason convinced that i need a thicker bar for the rear than the front to stop understeer, would that be correct or?

The Whiteline rear only comes in 22mm, it's never been available in 23mm.

I take it the front ARB only has 2 settings as when i changed my front to the whiteline there was only 2 positions you could adjust the droplinks to?

I would change the front as i noticed a difference even tho its 22mm and not 23mm like the OE one.

not sure mate tbh. rear has 3 settings though.
