Got an annoying rattle that has developed, sounds like a loose brake pipe or a/c pipe that is rattling on the bulkhead when the engine leans back under acceleration, i'll let you know what I find.

You might like to refer to my earlier reply dated 5-11-2009 (Fault 1) where my loose pipe just by the bulkhead resulted in total loss of coolant? It was a faulty retaining clip coming loose which resulted in the pipe leaking.

Thanks for that WIM.

Found my fault today, low pressure a/c pipe was touching the o/s chassis leg right at the front, small adjustment and all is sound, very happy again :)

new fault. well squeak.
coming form the steering column, seems to be solved by pulling back (fairly hard) on the steering wheel.
any idea's what it might be?

Could be the cowling behind the wheel, especially is the stalks arent quite pushed on enough but not one ive had as yet.

have noticed a simmler rattle on my FR
seems to be same situation: under accelration, especialy if im gassing it to get up a steep hill.

worth looking for loose pipes or you think i should call the dealer?

Discoverd the source of the rattle

ibiza mk5 1.4 sport 5dr

hi, i've had my ibiza 1.4sport 5dr for just over a year with 6000miles on the clock. recently just had my 1st service (£155). to be honest, i'm pretty dissapointed with the car, from the very start ive been in and out of the dealers with problems. electric windows failing, leaking and squeaky window seals, leather steering wheel falling apart after only 100miles. these have been sorted now, however the most annoying thing is the fuel gauge. from day 1 it has had a mind of its own. sometimes, even after filling up, the gauge will read empty/0miles, and continue to display this for a day or two. other times the screen goes completly blank so its impossible to know how much petrol ive got at all. when it does work it fluctuates wildly; the fuel range dropping by 100miles sometimes after only traveling 20miles ???!! ive been to the dealers about 6-7 times about this to no avail. ive counted 6 courtesy cars ive had to have (bearing in mind this is a brand new car). the best reading ive had off a full 45litre tank is about 260miles. that is not good mpg im guessing, if the reading is correct that is. can anyone help?

Hi guys, been reading the forums for several months now but this is first post so would like to introduce myself. I have the 1.6 CR TDi SC in red and love the car, but recently I've had a few niggles with the car....
1 - burning smell from rear brake on near side
2 - disappointing mpg (av. 40mpg)
3 - door handle not returning to normal after opening
and 4 - today in the freezing weather, the electric wing mirror on passenger side went past the correct position and ended up facing wrong way!!

Anybody else had this problem, they may be only little niggles but they are spoiling the shine of my new car for me..

Mandy

We have the 1.9TDi sport coupe.

So far we've needed a new drivers side wiper and a new boot release (it was staying up when pulled).

Also more recently we've been having a few starting issues ie turning over and not firing. It's going in on Monday.

One big niggle I have is the MPG. Our other car is a Mk1 Leon TDi 130. Plenty more go and a lot easier to drive engine wise and yet it out performs the 100 ps verion in the little Ibiza. Not sure how a car running less boost, producing less power can be less fuel efficient.

Possibly because it's running less boost it's less efficient in the real world? dunno, i'm just speculating.

I'd get the burning checked out, that's never a good smell from a car!

i've had that wing mirror thing twice, i thought it was someone on the street who i'd upset somehow or a passing yobbo doing it, but now you mention it, both times were very cold here too.

Door handle could probably do with some wd40, i know quite a few people on here have had issues with the boot catch sticking up in the cold weather, and wd40 has solved that.

lol I can vote on my own thread. Windscreen has a blemish scuff. Needs a new screen. Will be sorted by seat when they have them in stock.

Well I took my 1.6SC Sport back to the garage to get the burning smell checked out... apparantly the only thing they could see was the handbrake was overtightened, would this cause smell? not sure but only noticed it once since. Was surprised when I went in to be told that there were 2 recalls on the car - 1- ?on brake servo and 2- connector on driver's airbag !!!! I'm no expert but I would have thought a fault on those could have dire consequences, wonder if I would have been informed about them if I hadn't already booked car in!!!

The boot handle was also replaced with an updated model and I haven't had any problems since, but the drivers door handle still sticks out.:(

On the plus side however, I now have 2500 miles on clock and I have noticed a definite improvement in mileage so hopefully that will continue.

Regardless of these problems I love the car and take every opportunity I can to drive it :)

I've had a few niggles with mine, however with the position I hold probably unwise to go into any great detail.

Nothing major though, just me being me and a perfectionist as any customer has the right to be.
