But for a road going car, would you settle with poly's or just leave it standard?

you will be surprised to see how much std movement there is on these bushes... its a lot of movement fore-aft.

You should'nt go too wrong with polys - i ran them for a number of years without issue.

Now here's a good question, if your standard bushes still look like new but are 6 years and 80,000miles old would you bother changing them? Same for engine mounts?

I'm always the type who will do uprated things to improve the car, but a few people have said if the bushes aren't shot leave them, same for the engine mounts. However with bit power I think the engine mounts will be needed to cope with the extra sudden rock of the engine.

if your under the car taking bits off anyhow then you may as well replace them i know there a pain in the ass to press in they generally are but looking like new and working like new are completely different i would but thats my opinion

Aye, think I'm going to bite the bullet and do the whole lot. The 4 engine front mounts don't look too bad if the bumpers off and engine weight taken up but will have a proper look when I start work on the car.

Got got the powerflex front wishbone front and rear bushes which i'm hopin to fit tomorrow. The fronts are self explanatory, but with the rears (204) I got the instructions on how to fit the 203 bushes, which on the instructions look very similar but are for older golfs.

Just a couple of questions for the people that have fitted the front wishbone rear bushes.

1. The instructions for the 203 bushes mentions sleeves to put in centre around where bolt goes, do the 204 bushes have these as I haven't got them in the box if they do?

2. the instructions for the 203's says to fit them so the bigger washer part sits on the rounded edge of the wishbone, is this also true for the 204's?
If so can you remember which way this is when fitted to the car is it the bigger washer part to the bottom facing floor or bigger washer part against the vehicles frame?

If there is no rounded edge is the bigger washer part facing the floor or the frame?

Thank you for the help people I haven't taken the wishbones off yet and before I start it I want to make sure I have all the necessary pieces and a clear idea of which way they fit.

203's for mk2 golfs etc... 204's for mk3 (golf/ibiza) and no sleeve as the metal portion of the bush engages into lugs on the subframe, that the mk2 golf does'nt have.

The direction of pushing in the bush will be obvious once you have removed the old bushes (press em out or cut thru the mtal outer carefully and prise it out), as you will see a radius on one side only of the wishbone. follow the instruction and press in from this radius side. (yes one will look upside down... which always seems odd, but is how they say to do it)

Will be getting them done next saturday at work when i can use the ramp and press.

Cheers again guys.
