how do all!

I'm looking to fit a nice shiny set of brembo's to my leon (cupra) i know the lcr's come with them as standard and so thats prob my best starting point. i dont know if i need to chenge my hubs etc??? anyone got any help for me there?

Secondly, although the lcr set up is prob the easiest route to go, i really want some porsche items. does anyone know what porsche brakes to hunt for or is it way to much bother??

thirdly, if anyone thinks i'm wasting my money at this point and has a better suggestion i'm all ears ---- big shiney brembo ears :p

porsche brakes

I recently purchased the neuspeed adaptor kit from awesome, unfortunately i received no instructions. I have fitted the kit and someone has said the bleed nipples HAVE to be at the top of each caliper. Is this the case? I thought if it was 'good enough' for porsche to install the calipers the way they do it would be fine.
Could anyone please clarify this for me, why would you need to change the bleed nipples over to the top?
Thanks

There is an arrow on each caliper indicating the direction of rotation of the disc through it.

(Install them correctly - as above - and you will find the bleed nipples are at the top.)

*air bubbles rise in brake fluid, so they will gravitate to the top of the caliper ;)

Bleed nipples have to be at the top otherwise you will never get all the air out of the system! Sounds like you have fitted the calipers to the wrong side of the car. If you change them to the other side of the car you will find the bleed nipples will be on top.
Arrow shows the direction of the disc.:crash:

Think you guys are forgetting, Porsche generally do trailing calipers (ie. on the back of the disc)

You could get round it by swapping them to the other side, but as Dave mentioned they usually have a direction of travel indicated on them

If you can, you'll need to swap the bleed nipples with the transfer pipe to install them in a leading position so the nipples are at the top

I have managed to download the instructions fromthe neuspeed site and it says to swap the bleed nipples and pipes from one caliper to the other. I know the bleed nipples a r eloose but the other side could be quite interesting!
if i cant undo these does anyone know if there is a problem with putting the right on the left and vice versa?

No probs swapping them over if you end up with the arrows pointing the right way.

I will check tonight as I'm sure there are no arrows indicating which way the disc should rotate through the caliper

So am I right in saying if there are no arrows I can mount the calipers either side, and ensure the bleed nipples are to the top of the caliper?

The Calipers have to be up the right way because the pistons are differents sizes in them! If they are not they will not work properly.:crash:

porsche brake upgrade/brembo?

maybe asked before, did a search aswell

what parts are exactly needed to upgrade to a better brake kit...

thinking of keeping 312mm discs i have but uprating..

looking at maybe porsche 996 calipers, caliper carriers braided hoses etc

what else will i need to complete the conversion?

cheers

p.s i will try to source the parts over time so no real rush.... cheers

anyone help with this please....

You will need to make some carriers for the calipers. I think neuspeed have a kit which retains the 312 disc. Alternatively look at a cupra r kit oem. You need to consider the wheel offset to clear the calipers and not the hubs.

312 caliper carriers on ebay right now, fit behind lcr wheels without spacers.

Generally if the porsche part number has a 351 in it they are fronts and need reversing if they have a 352 then they are rears and will bolt straight on.

996 rears work really well with the 22mm master cylinder, a mate had these on his golf and the smaller piston sizes of the rear calipers helped with a great pedal.

MikeC.......Found you out mate - heres where you lurk when not on the other forum, hows the 325's

I've got an R32 discs/carriers and 996 twin turbo setup spare as the Mk4 is sold now, another mate had these on his A3 and did about 10 laps of the ring with NO fade at all

Just to say that not all calipers have the arrows on, the GT style caliper of the Ferrari 360/LCR do but the monoblock porsche ones dont. As long as the bleed nipple is at the top and the small piston bites first then you wont get uneven pad wear
