I've noticed this too. I think its due to poor engine calibration as torque is removed when cresting a hill or light pedal input going downhill. There are also some stumbles if tipping out after a large tip in at about 1500rpm. Surprised that Seat feel happy to sell such poor calibration to the public.

I too have engine hesitation over the crest of a hill. I wondered if there was an accelerometer somewhere which the traction control is pegged into.

There is a steep hill out of Micklethwaite with a crest and an immediate left hand drop with adverse camber and no matter what throttle position my 184 always backs of the power to almost zero for a second until the nose comes down and the suspension gets a grip with the camber. The car feels almost weightless and powerless for a fraction of a second.

I have had a DS4 diesel and an A4 diesel that both did the same thing in that spot!

This spot is famous for power lift off oversteers and fish tailing into the stone walls at either side.

Other than that particular road I have no power issues

I've noticed occasionally a slight, momentary, dip in power when driving my Leon.

Only lasts for half a second, feels almost like something slips either in the engine or between the engine and the wheels.

It's not a full power loss, doesn't seem to affect driving in a big way.

I've not yet been able to work out a consistent pattern to when it happens.

Anyone had anything similar in their mk3 184 diesel?

get it at 1800rpm intermittently. Very noticeable me but not to passengers, is a really harsh temporary stop of acceleration.

Ive been getting it a lot today, I have had the A/C on and recently fitted a dtuk crd3+ box. Not sure if it's the A/C or the box thats making it worse but I'll keep trying different things. Really annoying seems to happen 1900-2100 regardless of the gear, but as everyone else said, with the throttle in an almost neutral position.

Just hope its not the tuning box thats causing it (or making it worse)!!
Is there no fix for it then that anyone knows of?

I've got the DTUK CRD3+ also, and I can confirm that the box makes it worse. If you turn the system off and go for a test drive, you should notice that the power dip goes back to how it use to be i.e. a lot less common.

Since switching to map 2 I dont seem to get it as bad but ive only had it on for 2 days. Map 1 was awful for it though, i must have had 10 or 15 during my 25 mile commute. Are you keeping your box then? What map you running?

I have a 25 mile commute to work and I never get 10 to 15 during that time. Based on that journey (and the 25 miles back home), I average less than 1 on the journey. Then again this may be because I've had the box longer so know how to avoid it more. It often happens when you're in a higher gear at low revs and you put your foot down, but it can happen in lower gears too.

Yes, I'm keeping the box, although it's not currently on my car as it's going in for a service soon. I've been running 3 + 1 virtually all the time, but I'm probably going to try 2 + 1 when I put it back on the car.

I'd say keep at it, after a while you should get use to the box and be able to reduce the power dips a lot.

I just got a 184 about 2 months ago this was starting to make me wonder wtf is going on seems a general thing with the engine?

It’

It’s still happening to mine but it’s started to get more violent with the power loss as if the brakes are getting slammed on.....
Starting to loose patience with it

Get this same position on drive home from work - turn right out of lights, going down a small incline on low throttle. Learnt to live with it. Its a characteristic of the mapping.

But it has gone from being not really noticeable to the car almost stopping when it happens

I've got a 2016 184FR and have only experienced a split second loss of power, a couple of times. Do we know if it's 184's in general, ie from 2013-2018, or is it older ones, or newer ones, etc? Has anyone checked to see if their car's chucked out an error code when this happens? I used to get codes for this sort of thing with Fords, and not see an engine light, or limp mode, etc.

Mine is a 2015, no mods, its always on small throttle settings. But the loss of power is quite abrupt. No indication of errors.

Power Dip - Fault codes

My first post, so be gentle.

I have also suffered this power dip fault which went from barely perceptible and then one day I had a yellow flashing ECU fault and car went into 'limp mode'. Called Seat Assist and AA guy read the fault codes as boost pressure and intake air leak.

He reset the fault codes, car now running OK and fault has not yet recurred. However, he thought it probably would. Seat will not be interested unless fault code showing.

There appears to be an issue with some low (?) boost pressure sensors in the VW TDi engine.

My car is 12 months old with 6000 mile and just had it's Seat service. I wondered if an 'update' during the service has any relevance. The job sheet doesn't show any updates.

I have exactally the same problem now it’s been happening for a while now my car goes into limp mode when you accelerate .

Did you ever get this fixed ?
Mines a 2014 model 31000 miles

My one was a 2014 with 71000 on it I ended up getting my money back and went and bought a newer 2016 with 29000 on the clock not happed so far,the garage tried a new turbo as it got worse and worse, that did nothing apart from dropping the mpg to 38 if I was lucky ,also they messed the rear heater up too that killed the radio while it was on.

Did you have any fault codes ?
Mines saying intake air leak when driving It just stopped going as if you’d hit the brakes , also there is no air leak.

Oddly, mine did this really badly today. Whether the cold weather (-3 here) made it worse I'm not sure. Mine's a March 2016 model, with 15000 on the clock, no mods.

Mine has always done it since new - when calling for a very small amount of power, usually in 3rd gear at 1500rpm, it's most noticeable. It's as if the car 'hiccups' and loses power for a split second.

Today - I was on an almost flat road, VERY slightly downhill, and had cruise control on & set to 31mph. Out of nowhere, it did it really badly and it felt like the engine actually cut out. It didn't - and I got no warning lights - and then went back to normal.

To a passenger not expecting it - today's episode would have felt like the engine was badly misfiring, whereas previous ones would be barely perceptible to a passenger, but noticeable to the driver.

Odd! I'm looking forward to my new FR ST Sport 190 DSG which is due in 6 weeks!
