Power Loss

I have had the follwoing rpoblem for the last 6 months with neither Seat dealerships or private garages being able to find the problem.

Started with loss of power in all gears and it struggled to rev past 4K. After a new DV valve, spark plugs fuel filter numeous test runs and the help of turbo technics to re-set up the waste gate (after some idiot from Seat dealership played around with) thye car no goes fine in 1st,2nd,3rd gears but the higher gear you get into the worse the car gets. Currently in 6th gear it struggles to get to 3.5K+ revs even with foot flat on floor and a down hill car just does not want to do anything.

The car brings up no fault codes warning lights has no rattles or funny noises and everybody admits there is aproblem but nobody can tell me what the problem is! The car boosts to 1.6 bar and holds boost so dont think it has a leak.

The car is a 2005 FR 180bhp thats has only covered 22k but serviced as required.

Any help would be much appreciated as i have run out of ideas

Tried new coils but makes no difference. It is completely standard not mapped. Turbo techniks said 1.6 bar is about right?
You can hear the turbo spinning as it makes a whinnning noise.
The car drives like standard in the lower gears but the higher the gear the greater the power loss.
Took out for run earlier and in 6th gear struggled to reach 100mph and that was flat out!!!

No its seriously overboosting, at 1.6bar on a standard FR its not running how it should, 0.9 bar is standard on a 180 1.8t

When garage logged data with vag com ecu requested 1.6 bar and it achieved and held that boost. I am by no means an expert on turbos but if it getting to much boost surely that would increase performance not decrease?

Should you be able to hear a whinning noise whilst driving when the turbo gets up to boost?

shows no fault codes so any suggestions on what would cause the overboost?

n75 fault? but surely that would throw limp mode,

as for the actuator, whats actually be done ??

Turbo Technics said 1.6bar was normal? 1bar is 14.7psi? so that makes 1.6bar 23psi?

You should be running half that, wouldn't have thought turbo would last very long @ 23psi?

Are you sure its standard ko3s turbo?

car is completely standard and no chance it has been remapped.
Seat garage played around with wastegate actuator rod so was constantly venting boost so had no real performance so local german specialist garage got in touch with turbo techniks and reset the wastegate to the factory default positon so car now has performance in lower gears, but the higher the gear the harder it is for the car to rev past 4k.
Forgot to mention earlier that the excess emissions light has come on once but that has been put down to garage not changing fuel filter?

Fuel filter does not bring on EML light, get it code read by a garage that knows what there on about......not a garage that says 1.6bar of boost is normal.

Not sure why the ECU requests 1.6bar if its not been mapped?

is it heavy on fuel?, possibly faulty lambda sensor, pre of post cat, sometimes this wont bring up an engine fault either, it'll overfuel, and under perform,

The fuel filter was almost blocked and the fuel that was getting through was almost black so thinking when under full load not enough fuel could get through.
I know the bloke who owns garage and so its not like he trying to rip me off.
What else would set off excess emissions light?
Someone suggested Cat could be blocked ?
Is there a sensor that would tell ecu to request additional boost to overcompensate for something?

Yes the fuel economy has gone down, any way to check lambada sensor?

The excess emmisions light is just a posh name for the engine management light and any number of faults could set it off, a proper code reader will tell you excatly what the fault is.

I've never heard of a fault code for a crap fuel filter?
