Power steering noise

My sister has a 1.6 DSG which she picked up today, I noticed when she turns the wheel it makes a high pitch faint whine? Is this normal like the power steering?

Anyone?

Without hearing it its difficult to say if its to loud but yes you can normally hear the PAS pump, also being a DSG when at slow speeds parking you can hear the brake vacuum pump running.

Cheers mate, my Mk2 leon doesn't make it so noticed it straight away. Sounds like the car is about to become a transformer. She's got a habit of naming cars so I reckon optimus prime is quite suiting.

Your Leon has electric power steering thats why, no pump
