I would think that if you are worried about what oil best suits the tune level your car is at, then why not use what it seems others in your situation use which is a Miller brand oil.

Quantum will be good enough for factory spec cars, it is nothing special, just an oil rebranded as Quantum for sale mainly by VW Group dealerships and has been approved by VW Group for use in a range of engines.

Edit:- to be honest, if I had upgraded the engine in my car beyond factory spec, I'd be using a specialist for my servicing, very basic tasks on normal cars are all that gets done in dealerships - as far as servicing is concerned.

I used Quantum for years in our last car and when I sold it the engine was super quiet and running perfectly. I'd have no qualms about using it again.

My old Mk2 FR PDI engine mapped to 205 has in my sons hands just clicked over to 170000 miles used quantum all but twice as i couldn't get it so used Mobil 1 esp those 2 times. Engine is still sweet. My oil changes however were every 6000 i bought the car showing 27000.

Yes, I still maintain that changing the oil frequently is more important than the exact brand of oil you use. Just look at oil that has been in there a year. Does it look good to you? Does it feel the same? Does it flow the same? Forget wanky oil, just use Quantam and change it twice as often.

I've used Quantum before as it meets the VW 507.00 LL spec requirements and never had any issues. I also change my oil every 5,000 miles which I think is just as important and the car seems to appreciate it.

I am currently using a large tub of Mannol oil that is also 507.00 LL spec and works out at £2.50 a litre, so an oil and filter change costs me about £22.

As your tuner has said - unless your doing track days and really working the engine hard, you shouldn't need anything higher spec.

You can of course try some Millers and see what you think. It might just be a placebo effect.
