Rear Brake Squeel in Reverse?

Hi Guys,

I have had new pads and discs fitted at the rear. I think they were ATE discs (which are what SEAT use as I understand) and Pagid pads.

On reverse they squeel. The brakes have been off and cleaned, copper greased, bit of the pad shaved off etc etc.

Its normally worse in the winter.

Any ideas? My mechanic is coming to replace the pads to different ones on Tuesday as he is not sure either!

I had this a couple of months ago in reverse only... only when cold. Has cleared up now.

It is better now, but still not right.

I read there on a search about a modified part for the rear brakes from Seat? Anyone know more about this?

fitted the modified part (counter balance weights) the other day, they work a treat.

I would say its normal and nothing to worry about. Mine squeek after i have washed the car only i never bother with it its not caused me any issues.

Thought this was only an issue with the Octavia?
Was talking to a Skoda dealer about a year ago and he told me they do the same but nothing to worry about. Didn't know it was the same with the Leon.

Happens to the 256mm vented rear brakes, dont matter what they are fitted to.

Mine was on a Fabia.

same here mines dose it to its a pian in the ar'@@ after getting new pads and discs off of bill but not before i replaced them minght just need to bed in

Have finally had my squeel fixed.

New pads and I also had the above kit fitted!!! Not cheap tho at £85!!!!!

All gone!!!!

Mine squeak let's be honest how long do you spend in reverse doesn't warrent the extra 100 plus quid , just call the squeak ur pet mouse called dave job done

It really bugged me as I reverse into my parking space at home and was rather loud.

Was annoyed as its didnt do it until I upgraded to 256mm rear brakes..lol

indeed it is an arse price to pay, but as the last poster says, it really annoys me on reversing in to spaces and at home so I had to do something about it.

my last LCR never did it tho! Bizarre!

Tip for everyone - I rang the dealer on this site for a price and it was £105, i bartered and said I didn't want to pay that and he did it for £85 for me!

quater of the price happy days. geniune parts too, dead easy to fit aswel. i havent had any problems as of yet. hope this helps.
