Of course bhp/tonne matters!!

I'm not saying it doesn't, but like bhp, it there would need to be a B I G difference to make it show on the road.

When they are close, there are other factors to consider, like gearing etc...

If the cars were 500bhp and there was a 30bhp difference then no you wudn't notice the difference id agree.

But were talking about 220bhp.

30bhp is nearly 14% increase.

That is quite a bit imho

id more than fancy my chances against a stock LCR
reckon be more fun with a remapped one tho
especially when some corners appear....cos anyone can drive in a straight line

now we leave it lol

Hi

Acceleration is 100% based on physics and this means that the car weight matters most and so it is.

I have Ibiza Cupra with FMIC, Upsolute Chip, Forge recirc. bypass and iridium plugs and for example bmw 540(e34) and toyota supra 3.0T(1990) are not a problem at all :D
Well ofcourse after 160km/h I can't accelerate anymore as fast as they do but till that time bye bye big engines :)
My car is liitle bit modded but it shows very well that weight is the key.

As far about modding and drag racing(or just accelerating in highways) I have learned that chip is only thing that should be considered when tuning Cupras. It gives very much power indeed. But fmics, new turbos etc... pointless. There are much better cars available for that kind of tuning :)

The reason why I have tuned my car is the track. After every event it seems more and more that my cupra just loves the track days.

A 2.0 Vectra SRi can take a Toyota Supra 3.0T(1990).... that was a funny day, my mate didn't talk to me for days.... :)

I know the feeling, I saw supras drivers face after I kicked hes a**, and he was not happy at all!

I used to have a standard Cupra then I fitted an Ibiza R ECU and after that a Revo one and I did some tests.

In a straight out drag race the R ECU is faster than REVO as with the REVO you start to lose power above 5K RPM but with the R ECU it keeps pulling to around 6.5K so you do not need to change gear as much.

Across a winding road the REVO is better as it has alot of Mid range punch.

I RR'd my Ibiza R ecu and got 200bhp and so did the guy I sold it too.

What I am getting at is to see a really significant gain you may want to consider a K03s

that's bollocks. it means you over advanced the timing or ran too much boost.

a well setup k03 will hit peak power (whatever it may be) at about 5k, and hold it flat. more torque as well. it will be faster - unless the old user intervention got in the way again?

yup - as does a properly setup revo'd car..... it just pulls more earlier because of the higher torque

When I did testing from a standing start over a measured distance the R ECU was consistently 4-5 MPH faster but cross country REVO was alot better.

The main point is though, I don't think the benefits of REVO or most Maps on an R ECU is worth it but they are on a Cupra ECU.

interesting info, I do like the power delivery on my R but just want it to produce more boost. Think if I want to see decent gains I'm going to have to stay clear of a generic map and go for a custom one, jabba or CC phase2

So your saying that a remap to a cupra 'R' will have no benefit?

yeah I hear you mate, it's the drivability that impressed me most on my brothers. The midrange kick is so much stronger than on mine, that's all I'm after really. I know my car is fast on the road but It just doesn't feel it.

I don't want to have a go in your's because I know mine will feel even slower then!

It will just not 500quids worth like you get with a standard Cupra.

I personally would not map an Ibiza R unless I had more mods such as FMIC and Turbo.

I have had Revo on an Ibiza and Custom Code on my Fabia vRS and I prefered the CC on the Fabia to Revo on the Ibiza, but this is like comparing chalk and cheese, if I was to Remap I would goo CC or Jabba.
