Hi All,

I've searched on this but can't find anything quite like my problem!

Was just driving back to work after lunch, slowed down for a roundabout but it was then really awkward to engage first when I stopped. It felt like there was some resistance on the gear lever (like stirring really thick porridge lol!!) and it was difficult to push the lever all the way to select first.

The car drives fine and works in all gears, with no clutch problems but this strange resistance to engaging gears is still there. The really odd thing is that it is sometimes in first gear, and sometimes in reverse!!:censored: It occurs on the move or stationary with the clutch depressed.

Has anyone had or heard of something similar? My first thought was maybe something up with the shifter on the gearbox or the linkage, but it all looks ok, and gears 2-6 are fine!

Any thoughts appreciated!!!

Cheers

My leon did this on occasion as well. Never any further problems though. My new car has done it a couple of times too. If you can't get it in, slip it in neutral, release and dip clutch again then it should "slip in" fine.

It would occasionally crunch when pressing on and shifting up to 2nd/3rd. Wouldn't worry about it unless other symptoms start occurring or it gets very bad.

Thanks for that, least it doesn't sound too serious! I will probably have a look under the gear gaiter this weekend see if any clips or anything have come off! Least it's drivable at the moment as I have to drive to London tonight!!!
