Alright, everyone,

I'm starting the next retrofit project.

This time it's the Octavia Mk3 facelift again.

This time, we're converting to LED headlights. I'm intentionally not listing the part number because I have L0L as my PR code, meaning it's for right-hand traffic.

What's needed:

Left headlight with LED control unit

Right headlight with LED control unit

Multifunctional control unit (4B)

Axle level sensor rear axle

Wiring harness

I also need:

Front bumper with headlight washer system

Hose for the headlight washer system

Container for headlight washer fluid

How do I approach this issue:

- Removing the entire old bumper

- Removing the headlights

- Removing the old washer fluid container

- Installing the wiring harness from the headlights to the bulkhead and controlling the headlight washer system

- Then I roughly installed and secured the LED headlights.

The wiring harness consists of the left headlight, right headlight, rear axle level sensor, and the 4B control unit.

The wiring harnesses are routed in a slotted corrugated tube for protection.

That took 2 hours of work today.

The next steps are to route the high beam and pump wiring into the interior. This requires removing the battery and the housing.

Typo ?.

Not part sharing is it. Off topic on an off topic thread ✅️.

I noticed my LED reversing lights I fitted in 2017 Ateca are still really bright. Not driving the car due to a shoulder injury at the minute so I get to watch it being driven 😉.

Think Vag holds back on parts to give upgrade routes to cash in. Example Tarraco had a light bar that was never wired up at launch. Just for show, then the light bar model came out a year or so that illuminated. Either bad planning, not the right price point or the marketing department taking the mick.

They did the same with the Arona not fully LED. The original Ateca Xcellence was sold as fully LED when it wasn't.

I was thinking more about the fact that I do a lot of retrofitting and share the projects here. Even though this one is a Skoda Octavia... oh yeah, in the driveway there's a Skoda Octavia 2 Combi in blue, the same one again in white, then the Octavia 3 facelift sedan, and two Seat Leon 5Fs 😅

Going custom is much more fun on older cars
Not sure I’d fancy it on anything new!

Here’s some custom lights I recently built
Bi-LeD projectors to massively improve light output

Please don't talk about customization here. If possible, we'll stick to the topic. My Part ist OEM Retrofit

On off topic I never told the story of an F15B coming in to do a pseudo vertical land in a field opposite. Talk about racket. The house was shaking with sound. Probably hear all it's electric generators and stuff that powers up the electronics. It was off the Mach loop which is where they train for hugging ridges but on an allowed public MOD flight path publiced that week. Strangely, the pilots family live in the village and got their own private air show. o_O Made the cat jump under the table and decorators working on the neighbours house nearly fell off the ladders.

Had dog fights in the sky above several years back but never a jet practicing a vertical landing in the cow field... suspect they didn't check for cows.

That's the Mach loop. Quite a bit of YouTube video on that. Had them buzz me once driving there.

Good morning...

yesterday, things progressed a bit. I took out the battery, then I could see the exposed rubber plug in the interior...

all the new wires in the front were protected with a slotted corrugated tube and pulled into the interior...

so everything in the front should be done...

next, I'll take care of all the BCM changes and install the 4B...

then the rear axle sensor, coding, and testing, and finally, the assembly.

So, today I actually wanted to finish wiring one side, both inside and out...

as I said, I wanted to...

putting together the fuse box is 🤬😡...

but I won't dismantle everything because of the three pins there. I made a device that goes through the fuse box where I can secure the pin. Then, in theory, I pull the pin through, but wait, VW has such a great invention: a purple pin for securing the correct one 😡🤬🤦...

so currently 1-0 for the car...

Good evening.

Today I won the battle against the fuse box. Man, I hate those parts from the company.

But I had to cut the stop for the compartment cleanly so I could bend it to create more space.

Then I wired up the 4B. I'd like a clean solution for the CAN connection. We'll see.

Next, I'll install and wire up the sensor on the rear axle.

Regarding CAN K and CAN E connectivity, I solved it with a gateway adapter.

I've already built up a warehouse for such parts/adapters, etc. 😂

So, let's move on. The bumpers have now been aligned. The headlight cleaning system has been fully connected, and the pump has been checked. Everything's fine. Now, after lunch, we'll move on.

So, the bumper is back on and locked. Everything's working, and it's just an error in unit 4B because the rear left axle sensor is still missing. Unfortunately, I have the wrong connection for the headlight cleaning system on the pump, so I'll change it to
