i think the OP is doing a retrofit which i think he has halogen and wants to put original xenon headlamps, if i understood correctly he isnt doing any warranty work. thats why i said is pretty easy to do it.

did the original xenon headlights work when simply plugged in did you need to change the looms/wiring etc ? i have been offered some original xenon headlights from a damaged car just want to know if its worth me buying them ???

check the guide i wrote search under my name.

its easy you just need to change the connector and activate the xenon via vag com, in the guide its all written

you dont have to modify the wiring, just remove the pins from the connector and put it in the new one as the xenon shape is different

can i use my original connector or do i have to buy new ones? also did you say i have to change something in the ecu, what forus is the installation guide in ?

you can make a conector loom i have the parts numbers to make it somewhere is the mos rewarding mod if done to my car, and ive done lots of mods.

do you know anything about how vag works ?


vag com just tell the electrical unit the car now has xenon instead of halogen this can be done with the diagnostic tool from vag dealers if the are willing to do it, my dealer did it.

if you dont do it, they will turn on and after a couple of seconds they will turn off, as the car thinks it has halogen that consume 55w and they xenon only consume 35w so the car thinks the halogen are burnt and shut them off

ok sounds good to me i have a freind who recently reset my airbag light on my dash as i took the front seats out is that a vag system ?

i will do mate i have been offered some original xenon headlights for £350 so i might buy them how much are the connectors and could i buy them from a main dealer ?

yes you can buy them at the dealer the part number is in the guide.

cost is approx 3 pound each

no the only difference on the whole guide are the headlights thats the only thing UK has different
