Just a thought but : If we could get hold of a Left Hand Drive - right hand rear light - would that give us a second reverse light ?

Anyone know if the LHD SC Ibiza has the reverse light on the right hand side ?

It would need the loom to send the power to the additional lamp when in reverse, not sure if the UK model loom would have this?

+1 on this.

Think an LED bulb might be the answer so hopefully Wings will have success with his solution! :)

LED W16W Bulb arrived and I have fitted it, but now removed it as it's not as good as the OE bulb. The 9 x LED bulb looks brighter if you stare at it but it casts less light around the rear of the car and the beam is higher and narrower than the OE bulb.

I have found these PIAA bulbs on ebay, maybe these will be better than the OE but they are quite pricey. LINKY

I think the best solution is to have 2 reverse lights, gold medal to the person that finds the cheapest way of doing this :D

DRAT! That's a pity... Not sure about the PIAA ones - they seem to be very durable but nothing specific mentioned about their actual light output, just the colour of the output. Bit of an expensive gamble to make and I'm skint after Christmas... lol :(

I know what you mean, bit pricey to find out they make no difference, although it does say they are 18W output so they might be a bit brighter than the OE 16W efforts:confused:

At least my £3.50 wasn't wasted on the LED's as they fitted into the map reading interior lights (or dogging lamps as they are more often called lol) and brighten up the interior a bit, now ordered an LED centre interior bulb to match and one for the boot for good measure. I can see great in the car, just canna see behind it :help: SEAT need to be aware as the facelift SC needs 2 lamps for reverse., although it's probably too late now.

After much thought I've decided to take a gamble on one of these bulbs, eBay Item number: 300628659451

A little bit pricey for one bulb if I'm honest but if it works it'll be worth it.

As soon as it arrives and I get a chance to have a comparison I'll let you all know how I get on.

When talking note that the bulbs are stated to be different then what is in the manual. Does that count for the 5dr as well?

The 3dr uses a capless w16w or 955 bulb the description on the bulb I have bought does say they replace these bulbs. IIRC the 5dr uses a capped bulb but I can't remember exactly which

Interesting! Looks pretty-much like the bulbs I was looking at which use the CREE Q5 LED. Only difference seems to be that the bulb you are getting uses a lower power CREE LED - 5W as opposed to 7W (though the 5W bulb for some reason has a higher quoted light output!) and you can get it a heck of a lot quicker rather than waiting for it to arrive from Hong Kong! The bulbs I was looking at cost about the same but you get 2 for your money. Granted, you can only use one in a SC! :p

If the bulb works, you will be elevated to sainthood on here, mate! lol :D

Eureka!!!

The bulb arrived during the week and I've just had a chance to change the bulbs over.
I'm happy to report a big succes. The new bulb is a great improvement to the crap output of the standard bulb.
Below are some pictures for you to compare, sorry about the quality only had my phone on me.

I hope you all agree with me this is a massive improvement over standard, still would be nice to have 2 reverse bulbs may have to look into that one further but for now I'm happy.
Oh just a little note don't look into the new Cree led bulb once you've got it in. I got a little excited, looked at it directly and I'm still seeing blue dots

 If your 2x 7w bulbs are anything like the 5w I now have they'll be excellent.

Why did seat decide to make two completely different rear light clusters for the 3dr and 5dr? I'd give anything to have 2x 7w Cree led bulbs you'd see for miles.
