Running Rich? VCDS Log

Following on from my other thread I am now starting to look at another issue.

When I had my MOT done in Feb my Lambda reading was at the maximum (1.03) while the HC was 25ppm (max 250ppm) and CO was also really low (can't remember the reading and left the certificate at home!). I logged a run up to the in-laws yesterday afternoon and I *think* the results are suggesting running rich, lambda sensor knackered or a possible leak in the exhaust system.

Can anyone help or suggest anything else I should be logging?

Because you've used block 032 you're not seeing the actual lambda measurements and because you haven't done a proper run (as described above) you can't see what the fuel system is doing at maximum engine load under WOT.

Cheers mate, I have just done a run. You will see the 2 attempts to get up to 6k, plus the bits inbetween.

That it would! still getting to know VCDS and what everything means :whistle: hands down the best £60 I ever spent.

Can you copy and paste the text in rather than screenshots? If you can paste it in as text (use "Advanced" mode when replying and use the CODE tags) then I can do a quick graph of your fuelling.

I've converted the lambda readings into air fuel ratio (lambda x 14.7). Doesn't look bad to me, that was taken from your second run as the engine will be closer to operating temp. Starts off around 14.7:1 (which is normal), does get a little richer around 2000rpm (maybe 13.5:1) and again at about 5300 (maybe about 12.8:1).

Just noticed yours is a 1.6 N/A model. For a turbo'd Cupra or LCR that wouldn't be far off the mark, they're supposed to richen under a bit of load (if mapped) and then a bit more at high RPM to keep cylinder temps down. My LCR has Revo stage 1 and passed MOT no bother with no emissions issues, pretty sure it runs a bit richer than yours.

I know that doesn't say whether yours is running normal for a 1.6 or not though!

I guess it's back to the drawing board as to what could have caused the Lambda reading at the MOT.

Looks like the throttle body clean fixed this issue too. I took it to a garage earlier for a Fast Idle Test to see what it was reading and got the following results:
CO: 0.013
HC: 15
Lambda: 1.009
