Rusty Wheel Hubs

I know its been mentioned before but maybe we should all call on the same day. They are trying to cover up and will never admit they have made a mistake. There is no way they should have used such poor materials.

When I get a chance I'm going to take some pics of my hubs and put together a letter of complaint. I'll do this as as poss work permitting.
Can I suggest that everyone else with rusty hubs :
1. Rings the above number and complains , register the complaint and take a contact name.
2. Takes photos of their own hubs and send with a complaint letter to :

Yeomans Drive
Blakelands
Milton Keynes
MK14 5AN
In your letter quote The Sale Of Goods Act , this legislation can be found easily on the internet and specifically the part about ' fit for purpose' and 'reasonable quality'

If everyone acts together with this problem and takes time to ring and write I'm sure something can be resolved before taking legal action.
If Seat wants to keep me and others as a return customer in the future they need to sort this out asap. This is my second new cupra on the trot and I'll quite happily take my money and business elsewhere.

what is our ultimate aim tho, realistically?? they will have to re manufacturer some new hubs? re embers money? paint them for us? what... !! ? what do we actually want to happen ?
Don't forget, change the disks and you will need to repaint or treat surface again unless Seat come up with a superior disk and material/alternative solution (cover of some sort).

i cant help feeling your all going to waste time and raise your blood pressure over this one.
while i can see your point and sympathise with you, at the end of the day the hubs are fit for perpose, nobody has had anything fall off have they?
i agree they may not be aesthetically pleasing, and seat arent doing their customer retention any favours but, fit for perpose they are.

I have owned Subaru's, Mits, Fords, Vaux, Toyota to name a few 
BUT have never had hubs that erode/rust like the Seat's do
IF other manufactures can overcome this problem why cant Seat? (the VAG i know have issues)
IMHO a new car of ANY price should NOT suffer this problem within the 3 year manufactures warranty/guarantee at least, But if it did SHOULD be rectified under this policy.
Seat IMHO will not give in to peer pressure from us so i say Watchdog or even Trading Standards would be a good cause of action..................(WW, rusty 14k FR hub owner)

I would imagine that they would get dealers to paint them.
Anthing else would be too expensive.
I'm sure someone will have to make 'case law' before this happens though.
Are they even any help? The damage is done as soon as Seat is featured on the program, would they do anything after you lot getting them that much bad publicity?
A couple of times there have been people on watchdog complaining about a certain company for selling faulty goods/not refunding money etc. Then watchdog show the story, within a week or two the company goes bust because of the bad publicity from watchdog and every other form of media that copies the story. The people then will never get their money back or their goods back if they have been sent in for repair.
Look at Time / Tiny for examples with their exploding tv's!

Mine had a small amount of rust the day I picked it up.

In reply to the person asking whether he sent a link to this thread. I hope he didn't, this thread isn't a very good representation of the issue, its chat about it but people form different opinions in it and some even say they think Seat are doing the expected. It would not support an arguement to watchdog (I don't think)

No I haven't , but when they contact me I'll give them the full run down and they can read the thread for themselves if they're interested in our case.
You can find the link to the Watchdog site on the BBC, can I suggest that all those with the same problem log it with Watchdog too, it only takes a few minutes and will add weight to the cause.
Please those of you who have yet to ring Seat Uk and complain, can you do so asap.

Not directed at yourself in particular, but... what the hell are you all trying to achieve?? This is a consumable part, its unfortunate but half the reason is probably to do with the composition of the metal the discs are made from, as an engineer I could probably knock some discs up made from bright steel that wouldn’t rust – the properties of these would be crap for brake discs though!!

There isn’t yet a do all metal that I’m aware of, though if its that bad I’m sure someone can make some carbon rotors and stainless hub mounts if you have all got a couple of grand to spare???
Stick a bit of paint on them and be done, Seat will do nothing about it I would hazard a guess at. If discs rust when sat idle for an hour or more then the hub mounts attached to them are going to rust. Are they made from high/low carbon steel to give better friction properties contributing to the rust?
